Anime Characters as OC's
I just watched the first episode of Kannagi and thought "I could have a lot of fun modeling an OC after Nagi."
Of course, from a sheer slapstick comedy angle, Minorin from Toradora! would be a hoot to RPG:
Is there an anime character (or two) that you wouldn't mind exploring as an OC in the GSG universe?
Of course, from a sheer slapstick comedy angle, Minorin from Toradora! would be a hoot to RPG:
Handler (whispering): "Okay, Minorin. Sneak in through the open window there and take the sleeping terrorists out."
Minorin (shouting): "I will destroy them for love and justice! I'll attack via the pool because they can't see my tummy when it's underwater!"
Is there an anime character (or two) that you wouldn't mind exploring as an OC in the GSG universe?

I know I posted this somewhere else, but it fits here, I guess...
the Azumanga Daioh girls made into cyborgs.. at the same time, with a hodgepodge of characters from ANYthing else for handlers:
-Chiyo - Brock Samson
-Sakaki - Jason Bourne (the movie version, not the old man from the last book)
-Tomo - V, from V for Vendetta (he falls from the sky in the first scene, that explosion just woke him up)
-Yomi - James Bond (Sean Connery type)
-Osaka/Ayumu - Raoul Duke (Johnny Depp's character from Fear&Loathing in Las Vegas; Hunter S. -Thompson's alter-ego), Whom Brock seems to confuse with his mentor, Col. Hunter Gathers
-Kagura - Gabriel Shear (John Travolta's character in Swordfish... because I totally ran out of handler ideas)
the idea never took me anywhere. I think I made it too complicated. The furthest I got was a 'horrible bus accident' in Italy with many cliche winks at the proverbial camera, and the SWA reconstructing all of the survivors (another wink, due to that list of girls up there being the only survivors). Jean was vehemently opposed to it, as was Bianchi, as was every reconstruction surgeon, as were the SWA's financial backers... but it went through anyway (another wink).
...never even got to V falling out of the sky.

Here’s an idea. Rakka (from Haibane Renmei) finally takes her blessed day of flight and is reincarnated as a human girl. Unfortunately, she’s reincarnated in the middle of a busy Rome street and is promptly hit by a bus. She’s then taken to the Agency and turned into a ruthless, blood thirsty killer.
Doesn’t life just suck sometimes?

Well it would certainly fit the tragic opera that is Gunslinger Girl, though yes, it would suck. :(

Bah, I was in the middle of typing a post for this thread earlier when my internet went out. It actually inspired me to start laying the groundwork for another fanfic. I just need to find a suitable handler for her and I'm ready.
Anywho, when it comes to anime characters turned cyborgs, I've got to lay my money on Misaka "Railgun" Mikoto of To Aru Majutsu no Index. I mean really, who needs a gun when you can turn something as mundane as pocket change into deadly projectiles.

Yes, she'd be pretty tough.
The more I watch of Kannagi the more I think Nagi and Triela would have a Rivalry of the Ages for who would be top dog: The Princess vs. the Goddess. Royalty vs. Divinity.

May I direct your attention to Robin, of Witch Hunter Robin.
For a start, she lived most of her life in Italy. And then, who needs guns when you're the most powerful witch in the world, with complete control over fire?

Well......I was acctually thinking Rakka as well when I saw this post.....so my next choice of what characters I would like to see be cyborgs, would have to be:
1. Kuu from Haibane Renmei

2. Matsuoka Miu from Strawberry Marshmellow

3. Iwakura Lain from Serial experaments Lain

Yep.....They would make the best cyborgs.

Except every time Matsuoka Miu said something stupid (which would be often), the other cyborgs would pound her face-first into the floor, so she wouldn't be very effective on missions...

How about the characters of "Lucky Star"?
Konata would of course be lazy and be hard pressed to go on missions unless they involved computer stuff such as hacking. Of course, she could be motivated by being rewarded computer related items if she suceeds on missions.
She'd also likely annoy those of her fellow junior operatives that are tough and/or serious such as Triela and Claes as they both are the most like Kagami.

The entire cast of Ikkitousen... made into cybernetic suicide bombers, each with a nuke in his or her belly.
I only say this because I was forced to sit through three episodes of this schlock, and it made me wish a horrible fate would befall each of the characters, ASAP.

Watching the last episodes of Rosario + Vampire Capu2, I would have to say for sheer badassness, a young Moka Akashiya would be something:

However, the ability of Ruby Toujyou to apparently do just about anything would make her one hell of an operative:

I just finished the first five episodes of this show. It's brilliant.
I'd love to do an OC based on the 12-year old Kino from Episode 4, but I don't think I can bring myself to subject someone so cute to the life of an Agency cyborg.

Re: Anime Characters as OC's
I took some characters from Suzuka, because they looked similar to how I imagined my OCs:
Asahina is Josie; Josie has really long sideburns though. Josie also has a dress and stuff.
Miki is Gunnar; I imagined her with wavy hair, but Miki's hair is better.
Honoka is Honoka; The only character I got right from the show. My love for her perfection, made me OCify her.

This thread is awesome.
Personally, I don't think Kino would make a good GSG, given that being a cyborg would tie her down to one location since cyborgs need maintainece. She's a wanderer at heart, and having her brainwashed and taking orders from some guy just doesn't sit well with me.
Cyborg Osaka would be the creepiest thing EVER. Hardened terrorists will run away screaming at her slasher smile. I wonder how her handler sleeps at night.
My contributions;
Fabiola from BL, who probably can beat the tar out of existing GSGs on a good day. She's the junior of a certain 'terminator maid', so being a cyborg would have a certain irony.
Takamachi Nanoha. You give her (supposedly) 'nonlethal magic', and she still manages to destory god knows how many city blocks. Imagine what would happen if you giving her some lethal stuff...

...just have this wicked idea to have Kotonoha Katsura from School Days as an OC.
Just imagine how much raw violence she could cause...and how much fatality she could cause to the Agency if her handler even thinks of flirting with other girls..
Then again, that justifies the reason to have Makoto Ito as an operative to keep the girls in-line...or to keep them 'excited'. Of course, that increases the risk of all the girls going berserk

Re: Anime Characters as OC's
I think I'll nominate Canaan, from the anime of the same name. Her combat abilities are amazing. Not only is she incredibly agile and well trained, she's also a Synthesist. Synethesia is a neurological phenomenon in which stimulation of one sensory or cognitive pathway will cause an involuntary reaction in another. Of course, I doubt any real life form of Synethesia manifests itself quite the way Canaan's does (she can see someone's emotional state via a coloured glow that surrounds them, and is able to sense the locations of people she does not have a direct line of sight to). In particular, I doubt any of them allow a person to do what she does so effectively (and I also doubt they make a person's eyes change colour when they occur). But hey, Rule of Cool.

And for a chance to see her kicking serious ass... look no further then the series massively over the top OP.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BGdMWXPEoKE
Yeah, the series is kind of over the top, but I love it.
BTW, the thing inher mouth in the first pic is a form of candy. I found that a cute touch, since it plays of perceptions of badassness while simultaneously illustrating how childlike the character still is in many ways.
Of course, there is still one big question about whether she'd make a good cyborg, and that's whether she'd even need cybernetics.

Oh my god... Kotonoha is bad enough as a normal human being! As a cyborg, she'd be the stuff of nightmares!
I dunno about you guys, but I sure as hell won't want to fight HER.
Piero wrote:I think I'll nominate Canaan, from the anime of the same name.
I'd have to disagree with you on this count. Canaan is already an accomplished gunglinger in her own right, and giving her the cyborg treatment would IMHO remove some of her uniqueness as a character. Because of her Synthesia abilities, I think Canaan would make a better adversary to the GSGs rather than being one of them.
But then again, I did nominate Fabiola...
Re: Anime Characters as OC's
After having just watched Episodes 6-9 of Kino's Journey, if I had created an OC modeled on 12-year old Kino before she became a traveler, her handler would have to be Nimya Tchuhachuva, the young woman who wished to fly in Episode 8 - "Land of Wizards -Potentials of Magic-"

My only worry is that it would probably turn into the same thing the Michele and Kara stories are - stories set in the Gunslinger Girl world as opposed to actual Gunslinger Girl stories.

She could make one hell of an adversary for the girls, that's for sure. She might even be above Pino's level, although her effectiveness might depend somewhat on how damage resistant the girls actually are and how much she was aware of their capabilities.
I wonder what a cyborg would look like to her...
That being said, I'm not sure she'd work that well as an adversary due to her perspective on things. She's not a terrorist, and while her choice of sympathies might depend on how things were explained to her, it should be remembered that she was a child soldier of sorts herself (one with her own mentor figure) and as such she might not be horrified by what the agency is doing the way others might be.
No Alfaard, on the other hand... can you imagine the sort of hell the girls would be in for if that woman ended up teaming up with Dante?

I would expect someone would not just transplant her over directly, unless it was a cross-over story.
Instead, they'd create a new persona and apply it over the canon one. So instead of Canaan from Canaan, she would be Iskra, a Chechen girl whose family was killed by the Russians in the First Chechen War. Taken in by a fellow Chechen and turned into a fierce soldier, at 16 she forged her own path as a mercenary and now works for the Five Republics to do battle against the child assassins of the Agency.

Re: Anime Characters as OC's
Here's one someone might be able to base a character on. Suou Pavlichenko, the new protagonist of Darker Than Black: Gemini of the Meteor. She's a thirteen year old half Russian, half Japanese girl living near Vladivostok. She's cute and a character based on her could help correct GSG's critical lack of BFGs.

The rifle she's holding here is a WWII era PTRD anti tank rifle chambered in 14.5x115mm. .50 BMG is for wimps.

Man, that is a freaking huge camera...
The series even provides a character I could base a handler for her on, though I'm not sure I want to. Aside from other issues, that character (the last season's protagonist) seems to have gone from being a nice guy in the first season to being something of an alcoholic jerkass in the second.

Mion and Shion Sonozaki from Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni ( Kai/Rei/whatever. ). Refer to Kai if you want to see their epic battle skills.
And Shion would be really good at interrogation....
And I'd have Oishi/Detective Delicious from the same anime as their handler.
Insane twins ftw.
Also, Rika Furude. Finally, she just stops dying and gets made a cyborg, all the while trying to stop fate and save her friends from going crazy... and I imagine taking her to Italy would make everybody in Hinamizawa go crazy ( PFF. Go watch the series if you don't get it. ).
Thus, not only has she killed her friends, but she's killed her whole town, ruined fate ( Because if I remember correctly, she usually only had a few days in each world to fix fate. ), and she doesn't remember anything. Oh, and during her conditioning and crap, they'd have to also find a cure for Hinamizawa syndrome.
Have fun Rika!

OK..... You guys are going to take the most insane girls in anime and give them cybernetically enhanced strength and automatic weapons!?
Then again, I came up with that idea for a cyborg Hansel and Gretel (Black Lagoon), with their weapons loadout modified so that they are both heavy weapons specialists and melee specialists at the same time (instead of switching off like in BL). Hansel: M249 SAW and his signature axe. Gretel: Her signature BAR and a katana. Both have a pair of short-barreled .357 magnum revolvers and several grenades hidden on their persons and sometimes also use also use various rocket or grenade launchers when facing heavy resistance. As they are used to working alone in their "past lives" they have no need for a handler. The cyborg twins still have some memory of their past, at least as far as hatred for mafia, particularly those involved in snuff films is concerned, as the agency often deploys them against such targets, their hatred allowing them to kill such targets without mercy
And, an awesome line for their inevitable second meeting with Balalaika: "We told you the last time we met, Balalaika, as long as we keep killing, we can never die!"

Re: Anime Characters as OC's
Although I forgot about it for a while, the airsoft sequence in Episode Seven of B Gata H Kei gave me a crack idea for this thread...
Yamada as a cyborg.
I pity the poor shmuck who ends having to be her handler.

Yamada as a cyborg.

How about Subaru Nakajima from Nanoha Strikers
a little old and already a cyborg but her propensity for close combat and destruction would certain drive Jean crazy

Piero how about this one. The numbers from Nanoha Strikers as another cyborg group run by Jail either in concert or against the SWA

In the case of Tachibana Kanade [立華 奏] from Angel Beats!, I did make her an OC [Noël Tachibana]:

Piero: Good grief, some people have hard enough a time as it is with the merely implicit relationship between A&P - if the openly nymphomaniac Yamada ever became a cyborg, we'd have Godot flying to Japan and committing ritual hara-kiri in honourable protest outside of the ASCII Media Works offices... on the Dengeki editorial staff!
