OC Theme Songs

Post by Kiskaloo on Sat 27 Dec 2008, 08:37

I had a thread in The Music Room about describing fratellos/sorellas (canon and OC) in song, but if your OC had a theme song, what would it be?

I found Kara's:

"Closer" by Inoue Joe which is the 4th opening to Naruto: Shippuden.

As far as this one goes, I'm officially torn.

Alpha's theme song would probably be either Children of the Grave by Black Sabbath or For Whom the Bell Tolls by Metallica.

Alexander's theme album would be Top Ten Songs from Adult Entertainment of the '70's. Time to Sleep

I can't really think of anything that properly fits Keetha. I think perhaps I Fought the Angels would fit her in part, but it doesn't entirely describe her...

Come to think of it, I do have something that describes her well. The only trouble is, I composed it and it's a MIDI...

Can you output it to MP3? Though I imagine something on my Mac can handle MIDI files.

Probably, with a bit of tinkering. MIDI players for Linux are notoriously bad, and I have nothing to record it on Windows. But give me a little time, and I'll probably get it through...

I can't think of a song for Riful yet, but for Kilana, Linkin Park's what I've done, would be appropiate.

Can we post the best song for the handlers too?

Anyone know of a decent file storage site (aside from places like rapidshare etc.)? Something to which I can upload the MIDI, and later the mp3?

You know, this whole thing has got me thinking about soundtracks to Keetha and Alcide again. So I'm gonna try and compose another, this time for both of them...

Oh, and if anyone wants them, the Sibelius and PDF versions of the first one.

And for anyone who is wondering, Sibelius is a score-editing program. It is rather expensive (£100), but the best out there that I've seen Wink

Re: OC Theme Songs

Post by LoC978 on Sun 11 Jan 2009, 18:51

well, I can't settle on any theme songs for my OCs, but I've got one for Jean:

Apocalyptica - Life Burns:

lyrics

We break our enemies with fear, and
We've seen how the tears come around
We've built our confidence on wasteland
We've seen how the walls come down

Life burns

A man dies like a butterfly
Life burns from the touch of the reaper
All things must pass
One love is a crooked lie
The world lies in the hands of evil
We pray it would last

Life burns

We have no sympathy for the lost souls
We've chosen the path of disgrace
We give this life to our children
And teach them to hate this place

A man dies like a butterfly
Life burns from the touch of the reaper
All things must pass
One love is a crooked lie
The world lies in the hands of evil
We pray it would last

A man dies like a butterfly
Life burns from the touch of the reaper
One love is a crooked lie
The world lies in the hands of evil (5x)

A man dies like a butterfly
Life burns from the touch of the reaper
All things must pass
One love is a crooked lie
The world lies in the hands of evil
We pray it would last

A man dies like a butterfly
Life burns from the touch of the reaper
All things must pass
One love is a crooked lie
The world lies in the hands of evil
We pray it would last

Life burns
Life burns
Life burns

Hmm, theme songs. This'll be tough.

If I had to choose a theme song for Adrianna, I think it would be Dredg's Whoa is Me.

Nero's theme song would be Non-Objective Portrait of Karma by Circle Takes the Square.

Elsa's theme song is definitely The Fall of Troy: Phantom on the Horizon Part IV: Enter the Black Demon.

While she isn't a cyborg, Abigail is a main character, so she would get a theme song too. If I had to choose, I'd probably say Suspending Disbelief by Circa Survive.

I usually don't include Cynthia in my lists like this, as she's not a cyborg, but I felt Anthony Green's song Dear Child really fits her.

I may find theme songs for the handlers later, if I feel they need them.

Or, and I think Robert Frazer hit it on the head with one one: Jeff Beck - "Hi Ho Silver Lining"

Re: OC Theme Songs

Post by Robert Frazer on Tue 11 May 2010, 19:21

This could possibly represent A&A, although it's only provisional until I can think of something more specific:

It has that same sense of ambiguity, uncertainty and duality, with a melancholic tinge, as well as the story of a lost girl trying to find her place in the world (with the singer taking the position of a man trying to lead her), which could apply really to any aspect of the Agency and its staff. Elements that might be specific to Agapita include "Maria"'s outgoing character (referencing Mimi (Maria) Machiavelli, Agapita's original form) and the spiritual references which frame the song.

Re: OC Theme Songs

Post by Robert Frazer on Sat 15 May 2010, 20:19

I actually think that I'll stick with "Round Here" for A&A's signature piece - it has a suitably reflective mood which I hope will let it and the characters linger in the memory. However, this could be a B-Side on the fratello's single: Sabaton's "Union (Slopes of St. Benedict)"

I've no particular objections to metal but I'm not particularly keen on it, and I have to admit that whenever I hear a metalhead winding up to drone on interminably about "chord progression" in an attempt to justify the genre I start rolling my eyes in derision. This song however warrants an exception. I find it formidable - a rousing, stirring, fortifying tune, an arresting backdrop against one of the grandest battles of the war, and the evocations of unity (between fratelli and wider Italy) and advancing north (against Padania) which translate well to the GSG setting.

Although not an OC per say, I have a scene in my latest outline where a Roman Bishop who is friendly with SISDE is asked to have a meeting with Vice-Chair Marie-Petrice and Director Lorenzo on the Vatican's absorption of Les Soldats after the fortunate removal of a troublesome Sister and their eventual assimilation into the Order of Vatican Knights.

The Bishop is followed closely by none other than Laci Carmichael in her signature outfit and then this popped in my head for her theme music as she strolls through the halls of Section 2.
