Name Problem.

Post by Guest on Sun 28 Dec 2008 - 1:18

I've been having second thoughts about naming my cyborg Riful and since I'm finally making my OC information, I thought I should get some help on names.

Ideas so far: Noah

if you have anything, please post it here!

I admit I like Riful. It's very unique and exotic-sounding.

When I need an Italian family and/or given name, I go here.

Noah for a girl?

I like Riful as is. That can be her cyborg name, what her name was before being converted can be part of her story.

Okay, I just thought it was, I dunno, plain? But, now that I think about it, it's nice to be plain sometimes.

I did that once Very Happy

But now, since I've DMed, I've learnt to come up with names more-or-less on the fly. Give me a starting letter (maybe a vowel too) and I can come up with a reasonably exotic sounding name. At the very least, it'll be different (an example: Keetha Razz )

Practice makes perfect Wink

Ah yes, the old 26-sided die demon naming schema. Smile

Ah, you see I avoid using a d26 (program). Means that there are more or less equal numbers of names beginning with each letter, and life just isn't like that Wink

Instead, I pick the second letter that comes to mind (the first is often boring and samey) Razz

I agree with Kiskaloo, I pretty much like Riful. But it's your character after all, so it's your opinion that counts.

If you're going to change it, I usually think why the handler (in this case) gave it that name - maybe it has some special significance, a close friend's name, or perhaps some obscure meaning which the handler knows. Of course, it might just be that the handler liked the sound of that name.

And TTIO, I'd really like to have that talent of yours. I hate it when they suddenly ask "And what's NPC #3's name?". So we usually end up with the Spanish equivalent of Bob.

I used to really suck at it, but I just kept on trying. You could learn too, if you want to, you know.

I started off using the Elven Name tables, and went on from there Wink

I'd like to help but I'm bad with names as well. Sorry.
Riful sounds cool though! Smile
