Heck no. I love that film. I owned it on LD and both the original and anniversary DVD releases. I also met the author at San Diego Comic Con and bought the book from him, which he was kind enough to autograph for me.

Yes it indeed is. I just saw it a few days ago, but I had been looking for it for ages. Is the book even better than the movie?

To keep the game rolling,

"(Name goes here) my brother you no longer belong to evil. With this silver [candlestick],
I have bought your soul. I've ransomed you from fear and hatred, and
now I give you back to God." (From a film adopted from a foreign language novel where the above line is a good way to summarize the epic story. The author of the novel is well known internationally, and another one of his work (about a gypsy dancer among other things) was adopted by disney into a film. study )

Victor Hugo would be the author.

Neither seen it nor read it, but I am going to guess it is from Les Misérables since that is arguably his most famous work.

The Land Before Time! I loved that movie when I was a kid. I've still got it and some of the sequals on VHS. Man, that makes me want to go watch it again.

Les Misérables. Haven't seen the movie or read the book, but I've seen a few episodes of the anime. I really liked that scene, so I knew that quote right off. P.S. - no hints. It makes it too easy. NO

"(Male name), listen. I just remembered something from a long time ago, I think
it may help you. Once, when I was little, I dropped my shoe into a
river. When I tried to get it back I fell in. I thought I'd drown but
the water carried me to shore. It finally came back to me. The river's
name was the ****** river. I think that was you, and your real name is ****** river."

A easy one I think Very Happy And no hints this time sweat

As an added bonus, from a book:

"(in a graveyard Time to Sleep ) they
found among all those hideous carcasses two skeletons, one
of which held the other in its embrace. One of these skeletons,
which was that of a woman, ... The other, which held this one
in a close embrace, was the skeleton of a man. It was noticed
that his spinal column was crooked, his head seated on his
shoulder blades, and that one leg was shorter than the other.
Moreover, ... it was evident that he had not been hanged.
Hence, the man to whom it had belonged had come thither
and had died there. When they tried to detach the skeleton
which he held in his embrace, he fell to dust."

And no googling! Violators will get to see voodoo doll

Spirited Away for the win - my favorite Miyazaki film. And every movie version of the Hunchback of Notre Dame automatically fails for not including that scene from the book's final chapter. It's right up there among literature's most emotionally powerful endings.

For me, there are two scenes in Hunchback that was extremely powerful, and this was one of them. The other was Earthenware and Crystal.

That one never really resonated with me. Neither did Howl (it was a better book) nor even Mononoke (though I believe it was his crowing achievement as a filmmaker).

Give me the old classics: Nausicaa, Totoro, Kiki and Porco Ross.

And while he didn't direct it (but he did everything else), Whisper of the Heart remains my all-time favorite, just for the nostalgia factor of having lived in Japan, if nothing else (and there is a good deal else that I enjoy about that film).

How about the movie where this is from?

\"Sending mail. 8 years, 224 days, and 18 hours until the delivery of the mail.\" On a cell phone screen... from sending text messages. I must say this film is beautiful. Everytime I rewatch it, my eyes still tear up at the theme.

Oh and its an anime movie, by a small team.

EDIT: No one gets the \"Emarassing remarks are not allowed?\" A shame. Hint: Blue eyed cats... in space! Or Mars. And Venice. With a dash of time travelling, along with a healthy dose of oars and gondolas. The result is a tranquil and heart warming three seasons that ended last year.

One of my favorite movies - Voices of a Distant Star.

Dammit, you got there before me Sad
Agreed though, it's one of the best movies I have ever seen. Though coming from me that doesn't say much (I watch very few movies...)

The Eagle

He clasps the crag with crooked hands;
Close to the sun in lonely lands,
Ring'd with the azure world, he stands.

The wrinkled sea beneath him crawls;
He watches from his mountain walls,
And like a thunderbolt he falls.

Maybe The Blues Brothers? It's been so long since I have seen it I admit I am reaching here.

I think mine was a bit too hard although the quote is a bit obscure.

To save the drama, I give up. It's from Mystery Men.

And now for one that's a little bit easier.

I shall not cause harm to any vehicle, nor the personal contents thereof, nor through inaction let that vehicle or the personal contents therof come to harm.

Edward, the cowardly prince of Damcyan. I always liked his and Anna's gender role reversal. It was funny 'til she got killed over it.

Not sure about Triela's, but here is a classical one.

"Why is a raven like a writing desk?" I am aware of 2 sources where this quote hails from. One has already been mentioned (it's a film), but it is not the original source, which is a book, a children's book, but so famous that most people at least heard of it.

As another bonus,
"Oh frabjous day!" by the same author.
