Re: Desktops

Post by Piero on Tue 21 Dec 2010 - 15:22

I finally made the jump to using a widescreen LCD as my laptop's peripheral monitor (that old CRT had such nice colours!) so I'm now using widescreen desktops pretty much exclusively. These are a couple of Macross Frontier desktops that I've been using.

I switched back to this one temporarily just to take a screenshot of it. I'll probably go back to it on more of a long term basis after Christmas. This one appears to be based on movie designs. I normally prefer the TV version of Frontier but this looks really cool.

And here's my Holiday desktop. This one seems to be TV series based. I can tell because Ranka's iSlug is green instead of orange.

I like to imagine that Ranka is trying to talk Alto into cross dressing for a Miss Santa contest in this picture. Razz Also, Sheryl Nome as Miss Fan Service seems to be a common theme in Macross Frontier images for some reason. I probably shouldn't be surprised by that though...

Mine is big @#$%in Andrew Ryan statue with a banner under it from Bioshock.

For a while, it was a Runescape capture the flag artwork, even LONG after I indefinitely suspended my Runescape gaming Razz.

Here's my current desktop.

Kinda large and it looks screwy but thats because I using 4 18.5 Inch 16:9 ratio screens operating at 1360 x 768 resolution. positioned like an upside down T. was a bit tricky but I managed to get a different wallpaper on each of em.

Oh, and Linux desktops generally are pretty empty in my experience. I only have Home, Network, and any external devices that I mount. Don't really need even those, I just use Alt+F2 whenever I want to run something/browse a location. KRunner is awesome at working out what you want to do Wink

I don't like wallpapers that spend all their time staring back at you. The eyes...

I took my laptop in for a check last week and the repairman liked the wallpaper - it was one of Aflisti's where Triela and Hilshire are cleaning up after a hit. I had to move all my shortcuts to the top and bottom, but it works fine. Great work, A. Unfortunately my own artistic efforts never got past cartoon stage. Sigh...

I'm still in a Macross Frontier mood, but I've been thinking it's about time I changed my desktop background. Here's a couple wallpapers I've been experimenting with.

This one's nice, although I'm kind of amused by Sheryl's pose and expression. I gather that picture of her was released sometime in advance of the show and gave some people a very wrong impression of what kind of character she is. Laughing

To some degree I'm inclined to favor this one for now, then switch to the other after the summer. However I'm not keen on the comments I might get if I go with it (yes, I know it's not even particularly racy -doesn't mean I won't have someone commenting on it).

XDDD I haven't accumulated that many pictures of him yet. Once I go on a picture hunting spree for him then I make folders.

I have a Kevin Zegers one on my desktop back home after taking tons of screenshots of Terry form Dawn of the Dead. :3

Just in case you're wondering why i have so many Adam and Tommy folders...
Adommy- kissing pictures
AdamXTommy- pictures that have them close and touching.
Lambert Ratliff- pictures that have Adam and Tommy in them, but they aren't close.

... Just so you get a better look into how I organize my files and spend my time... Because I have no life...
