I stand corrected. Wink

As far as my OCs go... nah, not really. It's a little awkward. Liesel uses a Glock 18 instead, and Altheus is fine with a semiauto handgun.

ah. my mistake. he's got a 93R in his right hand and a CombatMaster in his left for that scene.
...I always looked closest at this page, since it was the only one where I could make out details on the gun. The 93 we only see with the slide blown back.
...just another case of me not paying close enough attention.

Legality is a matter of jurisdiction -there are some countries that do allow civilians to own automatic weapons.

But with regards to the M93R in Italy... I've often wondered about the legality of the thing. I've heard it was developed in response to terrorism in Italy in the late seventies, and was intended for bodyguards. However, the round it fires is considered a military round in Italy and for quite some time even a lot of police were apparently not allowed to use it (though nowadays it's standard issue in the Polizia di Stato in addition to the Carabinieri). I've heard Italian firearms law for bodyguards is different then for regular civilians, but I'm still not sure they'd be legally allowed to own one of those... (and then of course aside from calibre there's the burst fire function to take into account).

My HK 93 is now worth well into four figures. My dad paid a few hundred for it back in the 1970s.

Ulike most of the people here thingk, yes you can own them as long as you have a ClassII or ClassIII weapons permit and pay a $200 tax-stamp plus the the gun itself.

In the US, most states allow Class III ownership. In some states, it's prohibited locally, in other statewide.

Problems associated with getting any full-auto weapon (legally):
1:Paperwork: Most of the dealers in Class III's (or NFA) items will help you with the paperwork. It's complicated and it's in their interestes to help you. At stated above, there are Federal forms to be filed, with fingerprints, background checks, etc, and the affore-mentioned $200 tax stamp.
2:Availiability:Full-auto weapons have to be listed by make and serial number in the NFA registry (suppressors do not). Since there has been a ban on the import of such guns for civilian sales, and the registry is closed, no new NFA firearms can be added.
3:Cost: The cost of such guns is determined by their availiability. We're talking thousands, if not tens of, that they cost simply because the registry is closed. Some people will part with them, but only at a premium.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Glocks are not the shit. Glocks can fail the same as any other gun. I've seen it personally, and have even heard first-hand accounts of something as basic as a slide-retaining pin snapping, the slide flying off. Get over the obsession and buy what fits your hand, your wallet, and ability.

The shooting sport is not a cheap one.

You aint kiddin. I know guys, who aren;t even truly competetive shooters, who change their guns like they do underwear. One guy is on the fourth or fifth (local comp use)gun since I've known him (about two years).

Compare to myself, who can barely afford to shoot for recreation. I've had the same M&P40 since the end of '06, it's my home defence piece, my winter carry piece, my comp piece, and the one I shoot the most on the range trips. I've bought other guns, sure, but not because I'm unhappy with a specific one that doesn't do it for me. I choose my guns for purpose, and thus their expenditure is justified.

Believe me, shooting is not a cheap hobby, especially if you want to be good at it, or if you want to do it competitively.

What you have is a problem most shooters have too. Your shooting a costly caliber, you should shoot .22 thats what I do all the time.

Cost and tax-stamp aside, 93R's are also extremely rare; despite being made for a number of years, very few have made their way out of armories and into public channels. Unfortunately, this also makes documentation and pictures of the 93R all but non-existent; I researched for quite a long time in the hope of reverse-engineering and machining a set of burst-capable components for my Storm.

Shoot, in most places 9mm is just as hard or even harder to find than 45ACP. I haven't been able to find any reasonably-priced ammo for my Storm since the last gun show I made it to... 4 months ago? I've been contemplating picking up a Walther P22, just so I can alleviate my ammo issues.

The ammo? No, it's all being bought and stockpiled by people that are paranoid of Obama taking away our gun rights. The military IS buying quite a bit, but that's all direct from the manufacturer; it doesn't have too much of an effect on the retail side of things, except for perhaps a small price increase.

And a sharp decrease in retail supply. I might just take up reloading my brass again if push comes to shove.

20-gauge slugs are still plentiful for my Mossberg, but I'm really starting to have a hard time finding .45 ACP and 9x19 for my XD's.

thanks to those idtios, I can only find .45 that nobody trusts (none of it has ever failed on me, but it sure does stink) or stuff that's rather expensive (I once accidentally fired a mag of those just screwing around. I guess there are worse ways to waste ~$26).

thankfully, your basic 12 gauge shells are still cheap and plentiful. I can actually buy 'em locally, too (but they're cheaper online, even after shipping)

oh, and here's the stuff to stink up your 9mm XD with, Boomer
