Lucretia's fairly thin, and being a hardcore sci-fi fan and technophile, she would totally dig the electronica vibe. Incidentally, that song reminds me rather strongly of Daft Punk, which Lucy personally adores. (H.B.F.S. would probably qualify as her anthem.)

Perhaps this could pass for Erina's alter-ego, DJ 'E'. I think she has the build for it, and being part of the Daft Punk club with Lucy and Heinrich, I think that if she was requested to DJ somewhere (like the Social Welfare Agency Charity Ball), this could pass for her stage persona.

Hmm, you know that never really occured to me before but Bag Raiders are a little Daft Punk-ish in their sound. I guess though that they do come from the same part of the Modular stable as Cut///Copy and The Presets... both of whom supported Daft Punk when we saw them in Melbourne (which, if not my absolute favorite concert of all time, was certainly the most epic).

Hmm... Lucy's digs the electronica hmm? What's her feelings on the classic Tubular Bells... because she may be able to solve a problem for me.

Tubular Bells? As in the Exorcist theme? If so, then its would probably be a little too slow-paced for her. Her favorite genres are dub-step, drum & bass and ambient techno.

Kara would also find Tubular Bells a bit slow for her tastes, as well. Jean Michel Jarre is about as slow as she likes to go. She's more a Tiësto and Ferry Corsten kinda girl.

Ok, now that would be more to Lucy's liking; well played, schaschanist. That would be the kind of music that she listens to at night, on her mp3 player to help her fall asleep.

...this of course is Tubular Bells III - "Secrets" and "Far Above the Clouds" (my two favorite tracks off that album). However, if she can dig the Tubular Bells III, I may need to borrow her for an fQ cover.

Lucretia has the perfect room mate then...

Marisa: Your room-mate falls asleep with her music still playing? Doesn't that drive you crazy?

Melanie: (shrugs) Honestly, Jacob lets me sleep so little that when my head hits the pillow I'm out. Lucy could have her speakers turned up to 11 and I wouldn't even notice.

Lucy: Hey, I wear earbuds! I'm not completely inconsiderate.

Kara: Yeah, it's not like you spend hours on end in the evenings playing Call of Duty or Medal of Honour with the speaker volume cranked so loud that we can hear the horrid, agonized screams of the maimed and dying from all of the way over in the shoot house, making people doing after-dinner training think that the compound is under terrorist attack or...oh wait; you do do that.

Lucy: ... ... Shut up.

Just thought you should know your artwork goes pretty well with Red Garland's "Hey Now". Smile

I was listening to iTunes while iPhoto was indexing so I hit "Pause" on the keyboard. This paused iTunes, but started the slideshow of your artwork in iPhoto to that song. sweat

"Order for Pagani!"

deviantART variant

What started as an exercise in drawing straight to digital without a paper sketch wound up turning into a pseudo-advertisement for Jesse's work: WiP Coffee Roasters in Brisbane's West End.

Unfortunatley Michele didn't get very far into the picture... I hope his watch is at least recognisable.

Again... reccomend full or Deviantart view as on my monitor the forum's chopping the picture's righthand side... maybe I just need to bite the bullet and get a wide-screen monitor.

I mean this in the best possible way, Alfisti, but I think it kind of looks better with Jesse partly clipped off - a bit of abstract style, giving a better sense of movement and an idea of the drink being passed on. In either case, the God-and-Adam motif comes across well too.

I was originally intending to give this cover to one of the more Monochromatic OCs, but I think Triela's warmer pallet helps tie the whole thing together.

Nice thing about doing a "fashion shoot" cover is that I can justify (at least enough to make myself believe it) dressing people up in a manner which would normally be completely out of character Razz

It's an interesting play on colour & scale...the patch of blue sky is in just the right place to counterbalance the rest of the image.

The inclusion of that window and the white shapes were actually a result of me looking at another album cover... I can't for the life of me remember what it was though (it's in my old man's record collection)... might have been Moody Blues?

Summer issue of fQ now available at the compound kiosk...

dA variant

Yeah, Monty gets the cover again this time... I guess in part I feel able to take more liberties with what she wears. This was a bit of a rush job unfortunately, next time around will hopefully be a bit better planned with some better story headers.

When I say "rushed" it probably took about a day from thumbnail to finished image (which is "rushed" for me, I'm slow)... the bit that really bugs me though is that I didn't have any story headers lined up, normally I try to setup the "La Famiglia" section to reflect what's going on on the forum or in various fan-fictions (keeping in mind this is a "lifestyle" format). This time I wound up flying more by the seat of my pants than I would have liked, hence why, particularly the canon-character entries, are a little weak.

Normal rule of thumb I try to follow is: at least one OC story, at least one canon character story and at least one story which would be a bit left-field for a "lifestyle" mag (in this case Sandro's disguise bit, but it has also variously been sniping, offensive driving and so on...)

Cheers all.

Nice to see some more folks taking a shot at doing an article. Good

I think the "introduces" in the sub-title is superfluous, though.

"+ On The Road Again" caught my eye. is this a reference to the Revhead Run, or one of Allison's TG Italy Reviews?

All right, let me see if I can put my journalistic skills to use and have Allison write about the experience (even though it would have spoilers).

I am actually thinking about having Allison write this 'gonzo' style and channel the spirit of Hunter S. Thompson in her article. (minus the heavy drug usage on Allison's part)

I've said it before and I'll say it again--your play with dynamic perspective is beautiful. :] I'm no good with perspective and I often rage-quit in the middle of making characters conform to a specific [perspective] shot in my school works so.. yeah. Ahaha.. sweat

And after looking some more through your art thread I have to say you gained a (another?) fan. Your attention to detail in your backgrounds and objects (that Mercedes (?) in one of your first illustrations is quite nice!) is pretty good. 8D

Alfisti wrote:Got told in class today that we'd be using A2 for our concept books this semester (first time since first year)... not happy, A2's a pain in the butt to transport and no-one feels like lugging a folio that size through peak hour public transport.

Annoyance was voiced, loudly (our cohort's somewhat... vocal) to which one of the tutors responded: you're designers, find a solution. ie. "harden the fuck up". So this was drawn in response to that suggestion...

...personally I reckon Triela's shotgun case would make a sweet document tube sweat

Unfortunately I couldn't find anything similar on eBay.... so a post-roll it shall be (hey, still beats the flat-pack folio case). At least there'll be the chance to use those sweet stickers they were giving out last Design Fight Night.

Random but I have to ask who that dapper young man (?) talking to Triela is?
