Well, I guess I never really specified that this thread was soley for J&M, so (since I couldn't find a thread for his OCs) here's a request from maverick375 for his Jamie:

dA version

I imagined Jamie to look significantly more mature than Monty and more built (not difficult on the latter, just about eveyone's more built than Monty who is, to quote Jethro, quoting Twiggy: the world's most expensive beanpole). Apparently though guitars are not my strong suit sweat

Thanks to maverick for letting me have a go at this, and for putting up with my endless questions.

Another great job. Even if I hadn't read Maverick's story I'd be thinking "that's a girl with a lot on her mind." You did a great job capturing her in a contemplative mood.

You did great, even the guitar is great.

To Quote Sir Mix-A-Lot, "34(c), 26, 36? Only of she's 5-3!" That Rachel when she started. She's grown to 5-6 (or so) in UN Resolution, but the measurements are the same. Francesca is another matter- Like Monty, maybe more so, thin as a rail and just as flat (OK maybe not that flat but still); possibly from being in the emaciated condition she was in when the good doctor Frankenstein found her in. She has lost her lolicon status since she was rebuilt.

Artists can draw my characters if they want, just let me know so I can put them into the OC Wiki. Its putting them into stories that I have issues about and that can be solved by asking and me giving a Yes or No answer. Most of the time it would be a Yes.

Cheers mate...

Well I wouldn't exactly throw Monty into the "loli" area either. When I was designing her I was thinking more down the lines of 60s fashion model Twiggy, who apparently had a similar body type to me: eats everything but none of it seems to stick. That's one of the things that pisses me off about the whole "ban skinny models" BS that's rolling around the popular press at the moment. Yes, some kids are starving themselves, which I'm dead against. But you can always tell the difference between someone who's anorexic and someone who's just built thin and I don't think it's fair to have a go at those who're in the latter category.

Ahem... tangent.

And I hear you on wanting people to ask first about using characters, like you I'd likely say "yes". It's not so much a matter of being tight about it but I think it's courteous. Plus there's just plain curiosity about where they might be going.

Professor Voodoo wrote:Even if I hadn't read Maverick's story I'd be thinking "that's a girl with a lot on her mind." You did a great job capturing her in a contemplative mood.

Cheers mate, glad that came through. I was a little worried that she looked too melancholic rather than thoughtful or hopeful.

Good to know that some are in agreement on this.
Like playing with fire, I learned the hard way in not protecting my works online (stories, OCs, art, etc). Back in 2000 somebody (in China or thereabouts) took this image from my web comic and turned into a porn scene...
(original strip, not the porn copy)
Spoiler:
I eventually found out who it was and gave the info to the authorities. I have not heard from that rascal since.
People, I swear...

I hope no other artists go through this like I did. I do know that Miss Mab went through this about the same time as I did, and according to her, "You're not a great webcomic artist until somebody porns one of your characters." Lets just say I laughed at that.

So far so good.

Haha, "Skidracer21" on dA right? I had put two and two together... but was unwilling to say anything as often when I try that I get "five"... and that's just embarrasing for all involved Cheers mate.

Ah yes... the B.A.D... back in the "more dakka" days when I still cared about guns on more than an almost purely character-developing level. Wow that was a long time ago, how times change. Contrast the B.A.D's "no such thing as overkill" motto to Monty's single 7.65mm PPK

Yep, that's me, I even have an Airsoft picture of my namesake as my featured piece. And yeah, B.A.D. was very cool. I think Allison would fit in with them. I also loved the 'Alfetta Revisited' piece. I still think the Sterling was rather cool for Monty to be using. I did see your comments regarding the omission of that particular form of firepower... Maybe an MP5K-PDW with suppressor would be a more appropriate choice? It's still short and compact, but provides more firepower in a decently-sized package.

Yeah, I liked the Sterling, and the Sten I tried before it... however, at the end of the day I pretty much made the decision to keep anything other than her PPK, Jethro's Sig and the Welrod out of the fratello's day-to-day armory. They're just not a "heavy firepower" (or even "any firepower" at times) pair, instead relying on cunning, guile and trickery to get them through. They might have one or two weapons kept at the SWA that could be "diplomatic-bagged" out if requried, or they'd just pick up whatever happened to be available on site.

As for the MP5K... sadly probably not for this fratello. The trigger-group's plastic for starters which will turn both Jethro and Monty right off. Honestly they're probably most comfortable with "terrorist" weapons: Skorpions, AK-47s and the like... or even the standard mid-century-evil-villan-mook-gun: the MP40.

I suppose I should add my praise in this spot as well, just so I don't look ungrateful. Alfisti did some incredible work on Jamie, and even the concept sketches garnered some serious respect from my writer/artist friend. I only have a b&w laser printer, so I'll have to take it out to get a color done up, but even the grayscale version looks incredible.

Now I'm just wondering about what you're going to charge me for a dress/weapon pict, now that you have your hook set. Smile

Glocks are not the shit. Glocks can fail the same as any other gun. I've seen it personally, and have even heard first-hand accounts of something as basic as a slide-retaining pin snapping, the slide flying off. Get over the obsession and buy what fits your hand, your wallet, and ability.

Haha, cheers mate, I'm glad you liked it. If you do want a colour print I can send you the full-res version in some more print-friendly format (jpg's good for web but I wouldn't want to print from it, and it's currently in a RGB colour space rather than CMYK).

As to the latter: well I didn't charge you for the first one, so I'm not likely to charge for a second... just there's a few other projects need clearing first

Something I've been wanting to do for awhile, thought I'd get it out of the way before starting back into comic work.

Monty doesn't need luxurious surroundings... but she does believe in looking the part:

dA version

Following a lead from a previous job, Jethro and Monty find themselves deep in the South American jungle, and in a race against time to recover an ancient artifact...

...don't ask me why, I don't care because: Ancient artifact + shadowy organisation = possible superweapon = fun.

Maybe the Padania's got it on time-share, because that would be the funniest body corporate meeting ever: "No! You can't have it this week to carve up Italy. Why not? Because Hydra needs it to take out the X-men!"

...I haven't been sleeping much.

Indeed. Yes Indeed

Kara likes the idea of the new Audi Q7 V12 TDI - "It has enough torque to pull the Cyborg Warehouse off it's foundation!" - but even though he's Italian, Michele knows that when it comes to SUVs, it's a Range Rover or nothing.

Nor in the Alps; it's why Alpha has a Wolf-spec Defender 110 back in his home of Switzerland.

And simply because "he needed a truck" he bought a Volkswagen Taro used by a local shop in the Baja 100 and gave it his own 'domestic makeover'.

Also, Allison knows that the truck packs a Toyota V6 twin-turbo 5VZ-FE by the exhaust note alone; but Alpha won't let her look under the hood. Evil

Fernando's NYC friends have the Lander Rover Discovery (I series) and the assorted jeeps. For Ruffing it out, Fernando was a couple of old VW Bugs that been converted to semi Baja Race Worthy... He does try to keep it street legal to drive in NYC though, so it looks like your typical average bug.

Aw man, this is freakin' sweet!

Allison's idea of off-roading, though, would be more of something that's armed to the teeth-- a Land Rover Perentie, Toyota Hilux with an MG in the back, a good old-fashioned HMMWV, or an MRAP....

And then of course, she'd tweak the engine for more "POWERRRRRR!" maybe something twincharged, and a nitrous line running into the engine.

Another great success Alfisti. Monty in a bush shirt & khaki shorts is very...dare I say...cute (I can practically feel Monty's aggravated sneer at that comment). The "ancient artifact" story line could spawn a dozen stories all by itself.

even though he's Italian, Michele knows that when it comes to SUVs, it's a Range Rover or nothing.
No Lamborghini LM002 in his collection?

Have you seen the (Baja 1000) category for unmodified VW Beetles? No giant tires...no 14" travel shocks...no flat-6 Porsche motors...you must use a stock Beetle; the only changes allowed are safety modifications. Now that's insane.

You know, the SWA really bends over backward to make Allison happy. Does she have some compromising photos of the Prime Minister?

Alas, that was back in the "madness days" before Audi knocked some sense into them and Michele felt it was safe to buy a Lamborghini.

Mind you, if Kara ever finds out they made one...

No, but hours of working with SWA Q-branch, providing Section One with some new toys like the frag frisbee and pulling some of their personnel out of serious jams, and recovering vehicles amounts to a lot of wooden nickels. Let's just say that something like the above product is the resulting birthday gift of a particular year. Now she can't wait to provide backup for Monty and Jethro in case they have some financiers or arms dealers to shut down in a country that's decidedly developing or third-world.

They do allow for a bit of engine mod to get what they can without need to remove the engine and crack the case. But in that regard, you can do a lot! Which is what Fernando has and more (132 HP out of an aircooled 4 banger? Try 1 horsie for every 10cc the engine has... Evil).

The biggest problem with the HMMWV... is that it's so wide that it won't actually fit down any bush track currently known to man. Not great for the old "take only photos, leave only tyretracks (and possibly spent casings)" motto

Jethro would also like to let Allison know that he's quite to content to crawl along in low-range second and that any attempt to give him more power, to spin wheels and get bogged, will be met with retribution.

Hey, just because you're out the arse-end of jungle-nowhere and it's been six weeks since your last shower doesn't mean you can't look awesome doing it... "cute" probably would bug her though. I think her actual aim would have been to make Archeology as glamorous as it is in the movies; "cute" does not equal "glamorous".

Besides, you never know when you're going to get captured and taken to some villan's jungle lair... in which case it'd be horribly impoite to keep them waiting for two long getting ready for dinner before narrowly avoiding getting thrown in the pirahna tank (the obvious number one, gotta have it, jungle-lair accessory. Unless of course you're fortunate enough to get volcano real estate).

No, "insane" is the Plymouth-Dakar rally: buy a car for 100 pounds, spend thirty-five pounds doing it up... then race from Plymouth to Dakar. Make sure to take plenty of money and pornography to bribe boarder guards

Well, the power is really more for the flats and high-speed dashes. In order for her to use that power,
she has to be moving in the first place. Let's say that Brian had her learn the hard way about trying to power out of a snowbank, even in her AWD Lancia Delta.

Of course, Allison has ridiculous solutions... Like Mattracks:

Allison: Silly Mr. Blacker, there's a solution to every problem... can't use power because you'll spin your wheels? Just use treads!

Brian: Allison, put down the spanner and step away from Jethro's Land Rover.

Allison: Or what, you'll tranq-dart me again? Hah! Do your worst, bro!

Brian: You asked for it. Hibernation mode key: Toyota Camry Sola--

Before he can even finish the car's full title, Allison is already asleep on the floor, spanner in hand forgotten.

Kara's would likely be "Nissan Sunny", since Top Gear declared it the most hateful car ever in 02x01 when they torched it with a jet dragster for the crime of being so utterly bland.

Umm... indeed. Of course no-one on this forum would dream of doing such a thing

"Drive it like you rented it: because driving it like you stole it means always obeying the speed limit and never forgetting to indicate... unless you're an idiot."

Now, Jethro on the other hand... he's used (and abused) plenty of rental cars.

So such reminds me of the rental car scene in the movie Days of Thinder.

Then again, if the car cant do mile markers every 24.5 seconds, Fernando will return it and complain what a piece of shit the car is. Then he'll drop the GSP system he ripped out of the car on the clerk's dest and complain about right to privacy and not being electronically followed!

There'll be a sextant in their kit somewhere.

On a side note I just realised I forgot Monty's watch in the right-side pic.

The military and givernment can follow anyone within a 3ft radius of their actual position. Stuff that one can get at the local spy shops or even eBay can track you within 18 - 30ft. Mind you, all cellphones built after a certain year has GPS, which is how the telco. follows you about and can track you if you call in an emergency.

...And people wonder why Fernando has his cellphone shut off most of the time! Evil

Important to clarify; it's not actually the GPS system doing the tracking. All the GPS satellites do is send out a time code. Your receiver extrapolates its own position by receiving times from multiple satellites. Your individual receiver unit may have a transmitter inside that reports its position.

As far as the cell phone locaters go, I'm pretty sure most work by triangulating your position via relative position to cellular towers. Since your telephone is already a transmitter, no need for additional hardware.

GPS trackers do exist, but their use is regulated in the United States at both the Federal and State level. Such devices can connect via a cellular network, but they are not inside cellular phones (or other consumer devices like laptops with cell-cards).

Allison loves anime; In fact, I was thinking of having a chapter where she and Brian are on downtime in Baltimore and Otakon is going on at the time, and she gets out a camera to take pics of a bunch of cosplayers.

This being said, if she showed up at a con, Initial D is impossible to cosplay. But there's a solution. She'll show up as Rena Hayami protagonist of R: Racing Evolution:

Monty... doesn't.

She doesn't hate it as such, but she just doesn't get the appeal or how people can get excited over it. Then again Monty can't figure out how people can get excited over regular TV shows either, or movies, video games make minimal sense to her and so on

Honestly, Monty's probably the last person who should be giving people grief about dressing differently... however that's not going to stop her offering up her opininons on this "cosplay" everyone seems to keep banging on about.
This must be genuinely stressful for Monty if it has her holding Jethro's hand.

Monty: Voodoo, damnit, if you dare say the word "cute" again I'll...

I didn't say a thing.

Kara: Monty! Monty! You have to try this with me!

Monty: No, no I don't.

Kara: Oh come on it'll be fun! Don't be such a buzz kill.

Monty: We're supposed to be halfway across the bloody city by now and all you've done so far is drag me from one bleeding booth to another. Each one full of exactly the same cheaply made garbage as the last. *grabs a poster from Kara's complimentary show bag... Monty's thrown her's away in disgust by now* And don't even get me started on this, the print stock's rubbish and the print job itself is low quality. I could do better in a garden shed! I have done better in a garden shed!

Kara: Just one song.

Monty: *resignedly* Will it get me out of here faster?

Kara: Yes! One song and we leave.

Monty: *sigh... The shit I put up with for this job. You find something where I can speak the language right?

Kara: "Okay. Your current outfit is fine. And the karaoke machine can do romanji. So just look at the screen and read the words phonetically."

Monty: "You owe me. I don't know what. And I don't know when I will collect. But you owe me."

Kara: "Hai hai. Ganbatte, senpai!"

[Monty takes to the stage to cheers. She takes the microphone, performs a sound check, and waits for the text to appear on the screen. When it does, she starts:]

Makes me consider how Marisa & Elio would do in such a situation. Elio, I'm sure, would regard the whole scene with horrified disbelief.

Mari, who makes no distinction between anime & western "kids" cartoons would at first act too pretentious to enjoy it, but might eventually get lured in by the fact that she could actually relax and be herself (including carrying her Beretta openly).

Tron Guy: And who are you cosplaying, young lady?

Marisa: Oh, I'm an 11 year old cyborg assassin.

Cat Girl: Brilliant! Great costume!

Elio: Christ...I need a drink. (Jethro walks up just in time and hands him something blue) Thanks mate...eh, what is this anyway?

Jethro: (sighs) Rommulan Ale...
