Categories for Awards are...

Post by ElfenMagix on Thu 10 Dec 2009 - 23:12

Last years categories for the Etta's are carried over into this- the 2009 Golden Cyborg Awards. Further disussion here is to add to the list or modify the current one. I say add then modify.

The (20) Categories being carried over from 2008 Golden Cyborgs Awards are:

Best Author (Male)
Best Author (Female)
Best Artist (Male)
Best Artist (Female)
Best Fanfict : Angst
Best Fanfict : Adventure
Best Fanfict : Humor
Best Fanfict : Other
Best Fanfict : Long Story (More than 12 chapters)
Best Fanfict : Short Story (Less than 12 chapters)
Best Artwork (Traditional)
Best Artwork (Flash)
Best Artwork (Digital Image: Gif/Jpeg/Png)
Best OC Cyborg (Male)
Best OC Cyborg (Female)
Best OC Handler (Male)
Best OC Handler (Female)
Best OC Other (Male)
Best OC Other (Female)
Life Time Achievement Award

Just a thought, I think all the male/female selections should be simplified down to "Best Author/Artist/Cyborg/Etc." Makes the whole thing more streamlined. Especially when there were only about 4-6 voters per category last year, having that many polls to vote on seemed counterproductive.

Also, can you have a Lifetime Achievement Award after only just one more year? Wouldn't that basically be like the "Next Man/Woman In" award, where eventually everyone's gonna get it cause everyone else has already received a Lifetime Achievement Award. Nobody lives two lifetimes to be awarded another.

Just some thoughts, I never did like Award shows.

I agree. I also think we should combine the art categories into a single "Best Artist" and the OCs ones into a "Best OC".

We have so many categories now with so few active members to nominate that we really should streamline them unless we want to end up with "filler nominations" - people nominated just to fill a category and not on merit (or at least merit alone).
