Heh, they're really a weird bunch, when you think of it... an old government agent who prefers Brooks Bros. suits, a tall blonde who is convinced the 80s never ended, and sort of an emo/goth lookin' kid who really isn't either at all.

I think quite a few of the OCs around here fit into the "weird bunch" category.

I kind of pity the new generation of male cyborgs...I imagine they all get roped into being a life sized dress-up doll for the girls at one point or another.

Marisa: Hey Mr. Voodoo...can I braid your beard?

Voodoo: Mari, if you come near my beard and I'll write nuns into your next 10 episodes.

Grrrrrreat art! You have a unique style that makes your work stand out!
The way Dusty looks sideways while sipping her drink is classic. You really have your expressions down pat, that's one of the main reasons I buy comics. Murdoch looks cool too, reminds me a bit of J Jonah Jameson, the newspaper boss of Spiderman. Excellent stuff, can't wait to read the finished story!

tremec6speed: Hey thanks. Yeah, old Murdoch does have a bit of the Jameson look to him. I was really kind of shooting for a very fatherly figure who nonetheless, really knows his stuff (which in his case would be all manner of secret agent grooviness). He's very much a "been there, done that" kind of guy. I'd like to have some more pages ready soon. Unfortunately, my job is a bit taxing, so it may wind up taking a while.

I decided to take a break from the Dusty comic I'm making to do a quick little group shot. What's Dusty complaining about this time? The unavailability of Shiner Bock beer in Italy? The utter lack of classic rock videos on MTV? Why she can't understand the popularity of Twilight? That Murdoch "needs" to find her a .45acp HK P9S? Who knows. The girl can be a little "high maintenance" at times...

I like how Kit always kind of looks a bit...nervous.

Then again, if I was his age and thrown into a place packed with girls with super strength, I might be a bit nervous, too. The docs tell me I won't feel pain and I'm pretty tough, but still... Those girls look like they can mean business. Smile

@Good ol Boy wrote:The unavailability of Shiner Bock beer in Italy?
Assuming Murdoch allows his underaged cyborg to indulge Dusty should be thrilled by her first visit to an Italian supermarket. Every one I ever set foot in had an entire aisle of exotic beer (mostly from Germany & Belgium).
As for Shiner Bock...much win there. I was actually kind of leery about the idea of selling a bock year-round (in Germany they're only brewed and sold during bock season in May), but hell, it's a good brew so I can't complain.
The utter lack of classic rock videos on MTV?
Jean: Rico! What the hell have you done to your hair!?

Rico: Do you like it, sir? The new girl Dusty says I could be in her Whitesnake cover band!

Why she can't understand the popularity of Twilight?
Dusty: (throws down book) This is the stupidest thing I've ever read! Why the hell do I have to work with a dorm full of friggin' girls?

Kit: B-but...you're a girl.

Dusty: That's different...I'm cool.
That Murdoch "needs" to find her a .45acp HK P9S?
I can see long-suffering Kit saving every cent of his pocket money and working his artificial fingers to the bone on odd-jobs to buy one for Dusty...and her still not acknowlaging his affections.

Yeah, that sounds about right. Poor guy just can't win. He even probably goes as far as looking up some of Murcoch's old gunrunner contacts from back when he worked with various guerilla groups back in the cold war.

Here's a preview of a little comic I'm very slowly working on. All the lines are a bit rough, being in the pre-ink stage, and the backgrounds are little more than sketches. I like to clean that stuff up when I ink.

Based on the surprise and the fact Dusty is armed, I'm guessing that's not the Colonel, but a Padania / PRF agent soon to meet his maker.

Either that or it's the first time he's seen her in a skirt instead of pants. Incoming!

Oh no, that's not the Colonel. If it was him, he wouldn't be so skinny. Murdoch is actually observing all this from a rooftop across the street, through a rifle scope. But that will come into play later.

After a little snooping, Kit discovered that the only anime Dusty truly enjoys is the old Cyber City Oedo 808, and arranged for some extra work to be done to him during his last routine maintenance in an effort to make him look more like her favorite character and hopefully win her affection. What could possibly go wrong?

And now Murdoch offers his opinion (a picture is worth a thousand words):

Heh, well knowing Murdoch's taste in coffee, if he did drop the mug, the coffee if strong enough that it would would eat through the floor... He's rather used to Army coffee... Still, to this day, he sometimes has to boil it in a steel helmet or add a pinch of dirt just to make it taste right...

Japanese scientists have recently found strains of bacteria, Microbacterium hatanonis, that have evolved to live in hair spray.

Hey thanks. I don't know how long it's going to take to see any real progress on the story. I have several short stories in mind, though, and I'm sure there will be the occasional one page gag comic. At the moment, I'm having to start on another long-planned story in earnest. I'd post links to it here, but it's a whole other genre. I'm considering making a blog to document its creation.

Well here are the first of my non-GSG postings. These are concept and character sketches for an upcoming comic called "Blood Oath", about a deep-space bounty hunter and her motley clew.

First are some sketches of the main character, Celine.

And here's her ship's mechanic/cook Skeech.... he's essentially a big redneck hamster...

And a sketch of the ship

And while this is not a sketch, here's a full-scale replica of her main pistol.

I'm beginning to think you have a thing for girls with "big hair" (at least drawing them).

Really detailed, intricate stuff...the armour/space suits look genuinely well thought out, as if one could actually wear and move in them.

As for the 2nd to last pic (the Rat cook)...

I'm sensing a distinct "Ryoko" flavor to her.... which is not a bad thing, at all! The premise sounds interesting...

Yeah... guilty as charged, I dunno why, but for me it's either girls with really wild, long hair or short hair.

@Professor Voodoo wrote:Really detailed, intricate stuff...the armour/space suits look genuinely well thought out, as if one could actually wear and move in them.

Thanks man. The armor thing is actually due to a friend of mine who is really into armor... If anything looked implausible, I'd never hear the end of it. lol

Yeeeah... you noticed the Bachelor Chow, didn't you?

Heh, I often hear that she looks a bit like Ryoko. It was never intentional, but their personalities are pretty different. Celine is more of the tortured, lone survivor type... Unable or unwilling to let people get close to her.

Looks at helmet...

How does that work.

Seriously though mate, awesome stuff as usual.

Well, obviously she has a localized micro-singularity anchored to the inside of the helmet. Duh. Razz

Jokes aside, I must agree with the general sentiments here, GoB; great stuff. And I definitely agree with Voodoo in regards to the armour. Very nicely designed and drawn. I'm genuinely tempted to commission you to draw a similar styled suit for my character Quinn.

I call it "GoB's Law of Variable Reality" It states that reality (and indeed common sense) may be suspended in favor of aesthetic design.
