I tell you, more shows need to take a few years off if the result is as brilliant as Futurama has been since coming back from hiatus.

What an epic episode last night.

Not quite as epic as WipeOut Colosseum, but for sheer carnage, WipeOut Disco was pretty awesome last night. Jill Wagner was pretty evil with her aim. Smile

Now if only we had the UK announce team.

I'd take that back after last night's episode - "The God Complex" - but now I know why I so enjoy Matt Smith's portrayal of The Doctor.

Spoiler:

Caught the premiere of American Horror Story. Definitely coming back for more. Fairly dark and creepy, not cheesy, good camera work, hot filthy redhead maid. And a fucking GHOST gimp.

I can't believe some of the shit they can get away with on TV these days.

I've seen the pilot and second episode (third was last night, but not had a chance to watch it).

So far it's been interesting in a historical sense (how air travel was back then).

I was a big fan of the original Thundercats, but this new series is a significantly better one.

Catching up on some archived shows this morning, including the Christmas Special for the second series of James May's Man Lab. Watching them use linear shaped charges to fell a Christmas Tree and then an air mortar to decorate it, I can't help but wonder what Christmas at the Compound is like. Guh?

Top Gear 18 - Episode 01

Best episode in six series (since 12x01). Also could be the basis for some fun Top Gear Italy crossover moments.

Spoiler:

Allison and Kara show up to help Richard and his Noble M600.

Allison: "Sounds like the gearbox is hashed. We'll need to get this to a proper shop."

Kara:"You should have brought one of these." (Points to her 458 Italia)

Richard: "Ah you see, though. The point of this trip is to find the best mid-engineed Italian supercar for someone who doesn't want a 458!"

Kara (tilting her head to one side with a confused look on her face): "Why would someone not want a 458?"

No, that clip's actually the teaser the Hub released for last week's episode:

It's About Time - "When Twilight Sparkle receives a strange and vague warning about impending doom and disaster from her future self, she drives herself nearly mad in an attempt to stall a cataclysmic event, but her uncertainty makes finding answers difficult."

That said: the whole series is animated in Adobe Flash so... the software is redially available.

You may feel out of place for not watching the Walking Dead, but be proud that you are not a brony.

You can enjoy the show and not be a "brony." And Walking Dead isn't for everyone.

There's a niche for everyone here - so long as you enjoy Gunslinger Girl, everything else in ancillary! *grins*

What a brilliantly f'd-up show.
Have you seen Adam Reed's previous series, Frisky Dingo? Every bit as deranged.

There's the good kind of insane and unbalanced, and there's the bad kind. Bronies are the latter.

The whole new show is on Netflix Instant. I recommend you start with the Matt Smith Series (5-6): Best Doctor Ever. Best Companion Ever. Best Writer Ever.

Then do David Tenant's stuff (I recommend start with "Blink" from Series 3 and then "Silence in the Library" and "Forest of the Dead" from Series 4).

I admit I am not a fan of Series 1 (Christopher Eccleston) - when the show first hit BBC America, I bailed after like three episodes and didn't come back until "Silence in the Library".

I think Netflix has the original series, as well. I've seen them all thanks to the local PBS station (Microsoft is full of Whovians so they ante up the $15K each year to carry the show), but really only liked Tom Baker (The Fourth Doctor).

This.

I think Matt Smith actually IS The Doctor and just rocks up on set from time to time.

"Dinosaurs - in a spaceship!"

"Daleks - in an ampitheatre!"

"Cyborgs - in a boomtown!"

"Robots - in a corridor!"

I could do this all day.

Charon: one thing that you'll have to bear in mind when looking up Old Who is that production is very, very cheap, even by the standards of the day (or even BBC standards of the day, which are already an order of magnitude lower) - try and see if you can find videos of the battle scenes in the story "Earthshock" to see what I mean. Of course, lots of people love Who precisely for that same earnest cheap'n'cheerful charm, but it might be a bit of a shock if you're coming in from the glitzy, ritzy, prime-time budget of New Who.

Gotta a lot of catching up to do as curiosity has peaked for me to watch Doctor Who. (from what I have learned, I cannot watch the series from the very beginning as the show that started in '63 has some 63 shows missing.)
Sad
Looks cool though, indeedity indeed.... clapping

Yeah some idiot accountancy type decided to save money and dump all the tapes to save on storage space, later episodes were taped over to reuse tapes, again to cut costs ! most of the really old programs you can see today are from tapes sent overseas, they recoloured some because they were filmed in colour then converted to BW for export, the colour info remained on the film.
