Post by VictorCharlie on Sun 10 Apr 2011 - 8:28

hey guys. i just joined now and ever since rekindling my interest in GSG, i've been brainstorming for some OC's, and upon discovering this lovely site, i decided to join. Very Happy

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marine_Scout_Sniper_Rifle

Other weapons qualified for use & misc.equipment at her disposal (depending on the mission, and her handler's decision):
- a "Balisong", a philippine-made concealable combat knife (think of the Spy's butterfly knife in TF2)
- FN M249 SPW (mission-dependent, where mobile firepower is needed)
- CheyTac Intervention Soft-Target Interdiction Rifle, in .408 CheyTac, for aquiring human-sized targets at extreme ranges
- PP-2000 Machine Pistol (uses russian-developed 9mm X 19 AP rounds, for concealed-carry)
- M203 PI 40mm Grenade Launcher(mounted on her M4 when needed)
- Semtex. (by her handler's discretion, used during demolition ops, which are rare in SWA operations.)

USP Match Two-Tone in 9mm (primary sidearm)
Armscor M1911A1 Custom (backup sidearm, from his stints back in the Philippines. keeps it for sentimental reasons)
FN SCAR-H w/ S&B Short Dot Optical Scope (during sniping operations with his cyborg, he acts as her spotter)

Summary of Bio & How he ended up in the SWA:

ex-Special Forces. Born into a mixed-race family in in a quiet subdivision in Las Piņas City, south of the Philippine capital. His father was a high-ranking officer serving in the Philippine Marine Corps' 62nd First Recon Battalion, who taught him how to shoot a gun at age 10. Upon reaching college, he decided to take up a short 2-year course first as a "contingency" measure in the near future, and as a stepping stone as well before entering military service....

[To be Continued. I'll be adding a bit more, if my busy schedule allows. ]

Well, aside from Sheo Darren, you've created the only other Filipino handler amongst the huge mass of OCs on this forum. My interest is piqued. And given that said handler is an experienced armorer, I bet he's got some notes to exchange with Saladin-- my cyborg OC who (in my fiction) runs the SWA armory. That laundry list of modifications to Clarinne's M4 attests to its reputation as a 'barbie gun', what with its high level of accessorization.

indeed. i kinda think it would be unique to have a handler with the backgrounds i stated. and that's the only particular reason i chose the M4 as her primary weapon: customizable depending on user preference & the nature of the mission.

i might post a pic on how said M4 would look later with all those aftermarket stuff on too. Smile
EDIT: just posted a pic. this particular app does a lovely job of allowing me to let my imagination run wild with gun customizations.

anyway, i just started on the draft. might take me a while though, being the busy man that i am. plus, it's almost midnight here. Razz

Swell. Another American. The SWA seems to be practically flooded with them.

Just kidding. Carry on. And welcome to the club. Very Happy

No, I'm serious. Why does the fanon feature so many Americans signing up with the SWA? Puzzled

Thing is, people need to remember regardless of their own nationality that the SWA is a European organization, and it would be logical for their recruitment to be primarily Continental. British personnel wouldn't be too far-fetched (one episode implies that they have ties with the SAS at Hereford), but American might just be pushing it.

haha, i was actually waiting for someone to say that. Razz a lot of people say so as well but i'm not much of a beer drinker so i can't comment on how it actually tastes. i prefer rum or vodka.

anyway, about the american thing, i wanted the handler to have both filipino & american ancestry. he's not exactly pure american, considering the fact that he was raised since birth in the philippines & served in their elite armed forces.

well, still i'm working on that draft anyway. i'll keep you guys posted. Smile everything posted on the OP isn't final yet.

Depending on how far you want to stretch it, Italy has NATO ties, as well... now admittedly the SWA is a more "in-house" organization, but it is not outside the realm of possibility that the Italian government would accept assistance from another NATO signatory citizen.

Just my $0.02, and in no way linked to the fact that I have an oar in this argument, as well. *grins*

Someone needs to do a census of our OC's national origins. I think Mongolia is the only country thus far unrepresented.

I see no problem with a handler of any nationality (canon establishes that Hillshire is foreign to Italy) as long as the backstory is good. Create an interesting & convincing tale about how he got there and the doubts will become irrelevant.

Unlike others, my OCs roles in the SWA is very limited.

Oh, I know that Hillshire's foreign to Italy. But he's not all THAT foreign.

Still, the 'good backstory' point is very valid. I'll stay tuned.

I only mentioned it to point out that canon establishes SWA staff do not have to be Italian nationals.

Tnen again, Hilshire was effectively forced to join if his claim that Jean would kill him if he did not is true. So he may be the exception as opposed to the rule. Wink
