trying to find books a home, is hard

Post by CiCiClaw on Wed 13 Jul 2011 - 0:55

My exroommate, who is a real pain in my backside, she basically abandoned her yaoi collection with us, we're not into that type of thing. I used to be, but now I'm not so much and personally just want to find homes. Considering it is just annoying to keep books around that take up so much space when one is living in a place where space is limited horribly.

So if anyone wnats to know what I'm going to do....I'm still protesting with my fiance of whether we put them up for sale on ebay, amazon.com, or go to an anime store and consign them there.

We tried Criagslist and it backfired on us...any suggestions?

It'll take you a while to sell something so niche on the general market, unless someone specifically looking for one of the books in the collection, which is a longshot. You might be able to sell them at a con, but considering the content and the price to sell things at cons, I'd consider just giving them away to someone who might like them.

I know these Dengeki Daioh Magazines are piling up and I would like to sell them...but our interests aren't as popular as they should be I guess.

I know this bad feeling...to be honest, the fact that my exroommate basically up and left us, leaving me in a horrible amount of debt because of her. the problem with doing it at NDK is that people are willing to buy, but I was warned by the staff they will not condone the selling of it because it is viewed as pornography.

I would rather just tell them, if there is anyone who wants to take it off our hands, we would gladly sell to anyone over the age of 18 and that's it. I'm sorry to say, yaoi dominates about 90% of the NDK con goers.

Get a list of titles together and then fire a message to Triela or Cherubino. I think both of them are into yaoi, but I could be mistaken.

Glocks are not the shit. Glocks can fail the same as any other gun. I've seen it personally, and have even heard first-hand accounts of something as basic as a slide-retaining pin snapping, the slide flying off. Get over the obsession and buy what fits your hand, your wallet, and ability.

Be sure to price reasonably. Used, soft-core, gay comic porn doesn't fetch as much as the fresh stuff. Very Happy

Which brings up the interesting question of why so many people went to see Brokeback Mountain even after they knew it was about gay cowboys.

Not that there's anything wrong with that... I'm just illustrating the point.

It depends on what books they are. I know one of the main yaoi publishers just went out of business. I don't buy my yaoi manga for full price anymore so you'd probably have better luck selling them online if they were a cheap price. I would buy some of them off you, but I don't have the money right now as I'm saving it for other things. :/ If there is a BookOff in your area I know they would buy them off you. ^_^

I would also try selling them in a big lot on ebay. How many books are there and what are the titles? I can tell you if they're popular or not! :3

I will make sure to get a list when I can...so far, we are only asking half the price of the cover price. I'm not about to over charge people, because I know how that feels
