Does it include the castle?  Actually, never mind...I've only been up there once and the hike to the top is a lung-buster.

I'm still interested; but only if I get to bulldoze that crap museum they built in the late 90's and restore the old museum.

I may need to go make some adjustments to previous chapters re: what the SWA grounds staff get around in...

Iconic Moke returns to Australia

...just to give the facility that extra bit of 1960s villain feel.

Apparently they're also going to Spain, which I assume means they could be brought to Italy.

Start saving your Dollars/Euro/Yen: Attack on Titan's 1/1-scale 3D Maneuver Gear Prototype Displayed

The observatory on the 60th floor of Tokyo's Ikebukuro Sunshine shopping center began holding an exhibit for the anime adaptation of Hajime Isayama's Attack on Titan manga on Friday. Aside from Attack on Titanmerchandise, Purikura booths, a photo area and anime screenshots, the exhibit is also displaying the prototype of the 1/1-scale 3D Maneuver Gear.

The finished product is scheduled to go on sale sometime next year.

I have fantasies of living on my own in a tiny modern hovel too often to count. I imagine just living in a tiny functional space with lots of hidden storage and compartments that flip and slide. I can see myself sitting on that bed, wrapped up in my sheets and duvet, staring out the window with a mug of hot cocoa in my hands. Watching as the rain pours down on the citizens on the streets.
^ What that said. Seriously: too awesome for words. I wonder what it costs to buy one of those capsules...

While the U.S. Defense Department is taking bold steps to embrace the latest technology in nearly every operational specialty, it might be the simplicity of a kitchen sponge that saves hundreds of lives every year.

The new battlefield gadget is called X-STAT, and it uses a novel twist on simple science, offering a different way to treat deep gun shot wounds that have plagued military medics for years.

The sponges work fast: In just 15 seconds, they expand to fill the entire wound cavity, creating enough pressure to stop heavy bleeding, reports Popular Science. Keeping the technology simple is hugely important in the chaotic, pre-hospital environment. RevMedx designed the XSTAT to literally be plug-and-play.

The dime-sized expanding sponges – which are made from standard medical-grade sponges and covered with a haemostatic agent are injected into the wound with the plastic tube and immediately expand to stop the bleeding. And because the sponges cling to moist surfaces, they can’t be pushed back out of the body by gushing blood.

You'll probably pay more for the shipping than the DVD, but if you have never witnessed the sheet cake of victory that is the ADV English dub of the anime Ghost Stories, here is your chance to do so on the cheap as The Right Stuff International has the first DVD volume on sale for less than four bucks. In fact, pair it up with the Kamichu Soundtrack CD.

They also have the first two Gunslinger Girl DVDs for under $7 (DVD 1 is under $5).

They have plenty of other deals, as well, in their "Bargain Bin" DVD and book sale (note - the Blu-rays are listed in the "Other Merchandise" category).

Post by Alfisti on Fri 3 Oct 2014 - 23:50

Arrived in the mail yesterday: gin. And marmalade. Marmalade made from gin.

To quote the Four Pillars website:

"Each time we make a batch of gin we find ourselves with around 3 kilograms of organically grown oranges that have essentially been steamed in gin: distilled with the nine other botanicals for seven hours in our still, Wilma. We knew that we had to put these to proper use and thus our orange marmalade was born.

Our Breakfast Negroni is even more decadent than the straight marmalade, with an intensified richness. With the addition of a tiny bit of our favourite aperitif Campari, it’s just a little more bitter-sweet – it’s for the adventurous, the explorers. Go on, be daring."

It's delicious by the way. Not had a chance to try the gin yet.

Indeed. The 1000 meter flight test was very impressive. One wonders: once you can bring a booster like this from the fringes of space to a safe landing, how long will it be before a similar autopilot is installed in passenger planes?

My understanding is that, given a decent instrument landing system, modern airliners are pretty well capable of landing themselves anyway (so long as the airfield doesn't have anything particularly tricky on the approach which goes beyond the autopilot's inbuilt safety margins).

Seriously, I really hope SpaceX get this working safely and reliably: party because of what it will mean for the costs of putting equipment into orbit, but mostly because it's just plain awesome.

Well voting is mandatory here, and the polling places tend to be schools, churches and community centres etc, which means they've basically got a fundraiser with guaranteed attendance on their hands...

...plus it just makes the whole experience more pleasant and relaxed for everyone involved.

Oh, this is probably where I should have put the other review for the Sugar Free Gummy Bears (there are a few other hoots on that product's review page.)

Here, have a review for Veet Gel Hair Removing Cream.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul.

I cannot think of a more awesome product than GhibliLand.

Now we just need someone with a half-billion to make it happen. Smile

Yeah, I'd be hard-pressed to leave the bar if Madame Gina was performing.
