Re: Hunters in the Dolomites
Something that occurred to me... and I might have missed it... did we have a name or names for the HVTs? Or can we just make them up as we go along?
You have any higher-echelon specifically, Voodoo, or are these guys mostly just foot soldiers?
Also, I'd just like to throw out there that the SRT squad is available for folks to use, so long as they don't get spread too thin - 12 guys can get used up pretty quickly. But coordinate with me, and I'll be more than happy to add some beef to assist with operations as necessary. *grins*

Alfisti asked basically the same question (via PM). Based on the intro I would say no...there is zero information on who got flushed out of the safe-house.Officer_Charon wrote:Something that occurred to me... and I might have missed it... did we have a name or names for the HVTs? There are however plenty of ways that information could magically appear if you want;
- Priscilla & team are back at Section Two home base monitoring every tapped Padania communications line they have. All it would take is one careless phone call and all kinds of intel could pop up.
- Boomer has already submitted a piece in which Alpha & Olga find a communications bunker in the chalet basement. Perhaps that could yield some data.
- You could always capture an FRF man and encourge him to talk.
I left that area intentionally wide open to provide maximum latitude for the other writers. The guys I have E&M (still with Hillshire & Triela) chasing in my chapter are just run of the mill field grunts.
Again, it's up to you. I'd say the majority are regular foot soldiers but if you have reason to add in a High Value Target (I had to look that up) go ahead. You have any higher-echelon specifically, Voodoo, or are these guys mostly just foot soldiers?

Another possibility would be to identify the dead Padans, then work up known associates. Also check for things like phones and the like. Neither would probably give a "go get 'em" list, but it would certainly give people to look out for... for better or for worse.

That is the plan I was going to follow. Genco Ribisi must be feeling very guilty and responsible for the cock-up, so I had him working hard trying to put things together to give the fratelli at least an idea of who they might be on the lookout for.

No matter what he does I'm afraid Genco has probably landed himself permanently on Monty's black list... particularly since it's resulted in her having to drop what she was doing and travel all the way from London to somewhere she would rather not be to start from scratch on a job she doesn't want.Kiskaloo wrote:Alfisti wrote:Another possibility would be to identify the dead Padans, then work up known associates. This is only a first pass right now, but I figured I'd send it on for a continuity/sanity check while I keep editing and tinkering.

Two questions:
Will this story take place at any particular point in the established storyline?
If continuity permits, I'm thinking of using Silvia and her handler ( does anyone know his name? )

I think we're throwing out canon timeline concerns for this endeavour...exactly so that people can utilize their favorite characters, even if they've been killed off in canon.Thescarredman wrote:

I dare say Yu never gave us a name for Silvia's handler. Whatever you decide upon is cool.

OK, another question from an uncertain rookie: what season is it? I assume the weather is temperate, given Hilshire and Triela's outfits in the opening chapter. But it seems like a lot of the action will take place out of doors, so it might be good to know if the trees are bare, for instance.

Spring seemed like the best season in which to set this. Authors wanting to do something in a warmer climate can send their characters to the valleys and lower altitudes...authors who wish to write an alpine chapter can still count on snow in the mountains.Spring had come to Alto Adige in the foothills of South Tyrol. While the high mountain peaks to the north had not yet given up their snowy caps the lowlands were abloom with grasses and wildflowers enjoying the return of vernal sun.

Now that we're closing in on that June deadline, just to reitterate Thescarredman's comment above: how's this thing looking, and do you need anything else off'f us to help fill in gaps or what not?
Other reason for the comment of course is to try and draw the attention of some of the people who've joined since the original posts went up.

We've got enough beginning material right now...I'm putting it all together into one master copy at present but "real life" has hip-checked me a few times this week.
Expect the first chapters up very soon...the door is still open for further contributions though.

Re: Hunters in the Dolomites
Good. I wanna see if I can squeeze a widdle ditty about Gun and Ayden at a crossroads at the farther most edge of where the action is. Jean told them to stand watch in case any of the enemy made it through the lines but he in fact expected not much to occur which is why they were sent there. Of course, the odd fratello did encounter something after all....

Re: Hunters in the Dolomites
I'm starting to think we should just chain Odon to a desk and force him to write more...
Re: Hunters in the Dolomites
I'm gonna blame Odon for the final delay in getting this out. I had planned to close the first release of chapters with my Marisa+Triela chapter...but then I got Odon's submission which uses Triela alone.
After reading (and it was terrific) it I knew it had to be the closer. That required a slight re-work...my chapter moved earlier in the story and a short bridge piece to explain that Triela/Hillshire has parted ways with Marisa/Alboreto. I'd say the delay was worth it.
Given the intensity of Odon's chapter I propose this; for sake of continuity whoever uses Triela next should keep in mind that she's frazzled by stress & fatigue.
Timeline note: Looks like we've reached the end of the first day...all new submissions should take this into account. Set your submissions no earlier than that evening...getting into the next morning.

Re: Hunters in the Dolomites
As they come, definately. Knitting together 14 chapters was more work than I anticipated, but now the hard work is over. I'll just add chapters as I get them and write the occasional bridge section.Alfisti wrote:On that note, were you going to set another deadline for the next round of submissions or do it on an "as they come" basis?Professor Voodoo wrote:Timeline note: Looks like we've reached the end of the first day...all new submissions should take this into account. And one or both of her pigtails have been cut off.
You know you could have put Marisa/Alboreto in there. ("Don't worry. Marisa and Alboreto got them. Two dead, one wounded. No casualties on our side. Turns out they never left the highway.") I just wrote Jose/Henrietta out of habit, not used to writing OC characters.
