Thanks!

The drum mag isn't even the weird part of the sniper. What's weird is the fact that the guy is using an RPK instead of an actual sniper rifle.

In the 4th panel Pete is the one talking. In all honesty, they're both wondering where the shooter went, so at least no matter who said it, it made sense lol.

Hmm looks like the enemy is calling it quits... for now.
Or is he expecting them to follow?
Either way, I'm sure they are about to learn not to f@ck with the Elly/Pete fratello!

This is the reason I haven't finished another page of the comic yet. Behold; Elly and Monty. Monty has class, Elly has chaos.

It's also my new id picture. Probably not for long though...

I hope I did Monty justice, sorry in advanced if I didn't. I put in a lot of effort, hope you like it.
It's 3:30am in Ontario, I should probably sleep.

Nice mate, very nice. I still think Monty looks a little surprised/shocked for Monty, though it's less prevalent in the full dA view. I think it's the whites of her eyes: showing them all the way around the iris tends to make people look surprised, shocked or angry.

Other than that, I like how you've carried the colours from their clothes into the backgrounds as well. It looks good, and helps pull the whole picture together. Thanks a heap mate.

Out of curiosity, how tall is Elly? Monty's 5'4", and I've always thought her one of the shorter gen 02s... though some of that may be a result of me having been creating larger cyborgs of late.

I'll change the eyes when I get off work today.

I don't even have a solid height for Elly, but its in the neighborhood of 5'5". For the sake of the picture (And forgetting how tall Monty is) I just made them the appear the same height.

Glad you like it, even though Monty seems out of character.

Yeah, that looks more like her now.

As to height: well, Monty can usually be found in heels anyway so...

Looks good mate, and thanks again.

For those who wonder, Elly tossed her carbine into the violin case that was at her feet. That's how it seems to magically disappear. I need to improve my layout, so that I don't have to explain things like this.... too late now.

Honestly, in this case, it's probably not even a layout issue. The other way to solve it would be to just have the rifle falling from her grasp in the first panel.

One down one to go. I guess this is kind of the official-but-still-vague reference material. I also came up with a bit of a back story, if you really want to call it that.
I'll work more on the actual comic later.

Trains are a great disaster to involve a pre-conversion 'candidate' in. Depending on how you want to play it, it can be simple misfortune, neglect, or a fiendish plan.

Kay and Vee, pre-conversion, were in a train derailment as well.

Nice picture of Elly in her volleyball outfit! It does make some sense for her to have had athletic experience, though volleyball isn't something that usually comes up when it comes to sport. So, nice job there. I also like the other bits of her pre-cyborg history that we have so far. Hope to hear a bit more in the future. Smile

For these character reference drawings, I'm drawing them as they are before they became a part of the agency. So now I have to draw Officer Ronnholm, the strong arm of the law. lol... I have some research to do.

And sadly, volleyball isn't something that really 'carried over' when Elly became a cyborg.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone!

Wait... the ultra-secret, blacker-than-black, cybernetic-child-soldier-creating, government anti-terrorist organisation... has it's name written on the van?

As to vehicles: one thing I find helps is picking a lower angle, particularly for something like this where you want to add a bit of drama to the SRT's(?) arrival.

That said, your expressions are getting better each time, particularly Elly's.

I was contemplating drawing an unmarked van, but then I though: nobody knows what the SWA really does anyways, so it wouldn't matter if they had the letters or not. just my train of thought. Kind of silly looking back.

I'm going to avoid vehicles from now on though, unless I have to draw them.

Thanks for the feedback!

Edit: Since it took literally 45 seconds... I erased the letters. Do you ever get legitimately ticked off at your own stupidity? Yeah, happens to me every day I'm alive. Bleeding letters. *BANG!*

Liking it, Tea. The red blood against the monochrome palette is very dramatic; watching it spread from panel to panel is cringe-inducing, especially coupled with Pete's statement about blood loss.
Concur with our resident comic illustrator and artist: your work gets better with every post. Keep going, and give us some more plot soon.

On a technical note: at the moment the tones background to foreground are quite similar, which has the effect of flattening the image. In this particular case I would be tempted to wash out the background tones somewhat to help the characters pop a little.

Also, the light source is inconsistent between Elly and the rail she's sitting on/Pete. She's lit from the front, where as Pete and the railing are backlit. Admittedly I'm no angel either when it comes to maintaining a consistent light-source, but it's something to keep in mind for next time.

I agree, the lighting is all over the place! Like I mentioned over on dA; Ely, Pete and the fence were all afterthoughts. I was only planning on drawing pretty trees. I could dull down the background, but as far as the lighting mistakes go, I don't care enough to go back and fix it. Live and learn.

Thanks for not only pointing out what I got wrong, but actually suggesting how to fix it.

Dulled the background down a tad, that's about all I have the willpower to do right now Razz

Still superbly enjoying the comic, and I must say that the stark contrast of red against the monochrome black and white really makes the spread of the blood stand out. Oh, and while Alfisti does set a pretty high bar, you've still did a damned good job in drawing that van. Smile I do wonder how the SRT team is going to blend in and not be so conspicuous, but at that stage with obvious gunfire heard by all around it might not matter so much. All in all, great work! The background pic too! Sure, you're learning, and we all are at some point, but you're a much better artist than you give yourself credit for.

Wow man, thanks! The story will start to make sense after the initial "hook" comes to a close. Thanks for the compliments.

Due to a lousy roommate who refuses to pay his half of rent, and who refuses to leave without being evicted... this took a while to get to. I'm looking forward to chapter one, where I can include some more OCs, and really get the plot going.

I'm going to try to dedicate more time to this in the future, so it doesn't take weeks per rage.

Intriguing set of panels. We now have a narrator. I couldn't help hearing, "Does this spell the end for our heroes? Tune in next week -same bat-time, same bat-channel..."

The TV set in the Director's office ... wow. I haven't seen anything like that in forty years. Is it even color? He must have a pretty sophisticated converter box.

Lastly: "Weeks per rage." I smell hatbox.

the narration panel is just a continuation of what the gentleman on the phone is saying. There's no actual narrator. for now hahaha.

I reused the line work of that tv from an older drawing because I love the look of em. And who's kidding who? I was lazy.

I think they need to fund section two, so they can enjoy modern telly technology.

Nice mate. I too like the old telly. Razz

Carrying on a bit from the narration vs. TV vs. phonecall discussion above, one way to help avoid confusion is to vary the style of your speech bubbles: so have one style for anything coming from a tv, or over the radio, another for speech, etc. In the case of continuing the phone conversation, what you can do is run the speech between panels by linking two bubbles together through the divide like so. Not only does it provide a visual cue as to who is talking, but also helps draw the reader's eye through the scenes smoothly.

Yeah I should have done that. I figured that if I changed the scene I should separate the speech bubbles for some reason.

I just finished moving back to Florida, and getting my motorcycle looked at. Now I can finally draw a little bit. (in between business card/post card designing, mind you.)

I'm planning on drawing some junk before I get to the chapter one cover. Now that I've finished the prologue I want to take a short break and just doodle. I'll post whatever I come up with on here, and I'll get back into the comic shortly.

It is nice to just draw as you feel like for a bit. I was feeling pretty burned out after finishing MiI, and I suspect part of that was not having a lot of time to draw much more than the odd picture here and there. A few months off from that seems to have helped a lot.

Plus, lets be honest here, I bit of variety doesn't hurt either. As much as I love working with Monty, it was nice to draw a few different things: different styles, different body types, different personalities, for a change.

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
