Currently have my bunch trying to power their way uphill, but half the group (read: The Montagnes) aren't having an easy time of it. Will continue work on my post come wakeup, trying to have it end when they reach the camp, perhaps just in time for everyone to be settling down for dinner?

Sounds good... if you could hold off posting in that case until we've got everyone off the trail and into the campsite, rather than throw the sequence out? Either that, or post in two parts?

Once the last few with things happening on the trail have posted, I was going to look to moving things along and up to the campsite... and I'll be doing a description etc. of where they are in that which may help.

Not a problem. Where I currently am, they still have 5Km left to go, but for the Montagnes, they will be the longest 5km they've ever walked.

This is the tent my little crew will be in.
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Ozark-Trail-6-Person-Tent-12-x-8/15111311

I was thinking of another tent (like this or this )but figure it would be too big so I went for something smaller. Its simple to put together, no strings, just arc-poles and hold down spikes. Plus it has a floor to keep those inside dry.

Alfisti - where you think is best to place it is alright with me when camp is made. If the group tents is in an arc around the camp fire,  I would like to be on one of the ends of the arc.

Just did my first post for the RP thread. Expect Brian to have a 3-person tent like this, and the Montagnes to have one like this. However, Jay will be searching for an ideal set of trees to build a lean-to big enough for two (in case he has a guest or Allison over) and will likely clear a small space for a small fire of his own.

I do have one final "on trail" post to make, but I assume that once we reach the camping spot, we'll still be in forest or will we have risen above the tree line and entered alpine tundra?

The campsite as I was picturing it was going to be sitting around the edges of the treeline. So there'll be some trees, some open area, and some water. Once everyone in the main group has finished with what they want to do on the trail (if we could wrap that up in the next week and a half that would be appreciated), I'll move the group into there with a full description of it.

Once there, people are free to set up tents how and where they see fit. If people want to group them together, that's fine, or if they want to spread out, that's also fine. Personally I like a bit of tree cover, but that's because I'm used to a) Australia and b) using a hootchie.

I've been imagining that the group passes thru terrain like alpine tundra at its highest point, but descends again to a more hospitable area with water and tree cover. Alpine tundra seems like a hard place to fish or build a campfire.

My tent is a 6 person tent, though that might be a tight fit. But if Tea and Alpha needs a space to sleep, they're welcomed to shack up with us. Just a few rules:
- No midnight singing while a certain Puerto Rican is sleeping.
- No waking up of a certain Puerto Rican before 11AM.
- Do Not Bother The Sleeping Puerto Rican!

Reading what has gone up on the RP thread over the last couple of days, I think that's the bulk of people who said they still had something to do on the trail. If no-one else has anything on-going they want to do during the hiking component, I'll look to doing a campsite description and move the head of the main group column in at some point in the next few days. I figure the whole party has become pretty strung out, so people can trickle in after that as it suits their bits of story.

So, if you have anything ongoing trail-wise, let me know now.

Nice setup scenes, all! Speculations and impressions:

Who's going to offer to share a tent with Tea ... or Odile? Hilarity shall ensue.

Verotrois (eying the Pagani campsite): I wonder if they forgot to pack the inflatable Jacuzzi, or they're just waiting to set it up until the hot water tank's at operating temperature.

Wonder if Crystal has hit bottom yet, and is ready for the 'team building' part of the camping trip. Sounds like Ellie and Pete are already there.

What night is Tea going to stage her little 'Girls' Night Out'? She seems the impatient type.

Well, Scarred, as is noted here, I throw my hat into the ring for sharing my tent with Team. I don't know about Odile, though an offer was thrown at Alpha but he wants to sleep up in the trees with the squirrels. I hope he has learned that valuable lesson - when one sleeps in trees, one learns how to stay very still.

Small tent or no, it's safe to assume Odile will still be sharing with her handler for the foreseeable future... however awkward that might make her. However, as Florentino might point out: she's supposed to be another Monty, so she had better get used to occasionally being in close contact.

I'm also having to hammer out posts too - I haven't even finished the one with TeaTimeNinja's, and now I'm forced to move it in with the one with Boomer's, which I haven't even started yet.

I'm having a bit of a rough go of it today, right now - I can't get it done soon enough with how fast everyone else is posting.

Crikey, I walk away for all of six hours and there's six new posts up.

Also, current mental image of Valentina (with apologies to PSVT)...

GENERAL CAMP SITE INFORMATION:
Jay has set up a bush latrine for communal use a short distance from the tents. It is a metre deep hole, cordoned off with garbage bags and duct tape, and marked by a pink glow stick at night. Bog roll provided.

If you need ablutions, this is it.

Also, as an aside, keep in mind when describing your characters' camp setup that everything needs to have been carried in, and you'd be amazed how quickly the space runs out in a hiking pack once you start adding things like food and tenting equipment.

That's why Fernando's group has their equipment spread out among 4 people. One has the tent and sleeping bags, others got stoves, food and their personal stuff. I believe that the others are going it the same way.

Hilarious post, Elfen. I'm imagining the rabbits covering their ears as your group goes by. Nothing like getting away from it all, especially when you bring it all with you ... and I'm not talking about porta-potties.

On another note: I'm working on a campfire tale - half fairy tale, half ghost story - that I'll soon be posting on a pad; the link will be here. Everybody who mentioned bringing their OCs around the fire, have a look. Feel free to insert your own character comments, sub-plots, whatever. I think of the story as something to build something larger on, and would be pleased to see it interrupted several times in the RP by other people's posts.

You can always cut this text and save it for a morning post as it is very good, and put an evening post in its place. Then when the time comes put in this morning post again.

And BTW, it will be Fernando, Francesca in one sleeping bag, Juanita in her sleeping bag and Rachel in her sleeping bag unless it gets super cold and all four go into the 1- 2 man sleeping bag. Since this is a 6 man tent, Tea should fit in nicely.

Hannah Crespo and her cyborg, Klaara Rintamaki, are part of a NATO program based directly on the framework of the SWA's cybernetics program. The two came to the SWA to see what their progenitors are like, as well as some cross training.

Me and Alfisti will talk about it.

The 'ghost story' is up on this pad, at line 150:
https://titanpad.com/D6iYYe1Enj

As  I said  before, I'd like as many folks dipping their pens in this as possible. I'll leave it on pad for a week and see what folks want to do with it.

Oh, and another thought occurs: what's a camping trip without some bad weather? Wink
