The SWA Weapons Registry and Armory

Post by San and Flo on Sun 15 May 2016 - 21:58

Due to the recent increase of cyborgs losing their weapons in the heat of battle, it has become more difficult for the SWA and the handlers to replace said missing weapons. Due to this, the Social Welfare Agency has decided to introduce the SWA Weapons Registry and Armory.

You may register you weapons here and add any more weapons of your choosing. There is no limit to how many a fratello may register.

Here are the rules of registering your weapons:

1. Register weapons into their appropriate designations and sub-designations.
(Small arms range from pistols until light machine-guns, as they are operated by a single person)
1.1. There is only one sub-designation for the SMG, which is the PDW. Please take care not to confuse these two.
1.1.1 There are certain exceptions for compact assault-rifles to be registered under the SMG designation.
(e.g. AKS-74U and the HK53 are two notable examples)
1.2. These are the sub-designations of the rifle:
(Carbines, Assault Rifles, Battle Rifles, DMR, and Sniper Rifles)
Please note that Designated Marksman Rifles and Sniper Rifles shall be included here in order to conserve space. Anti-Materiel rifles, such as the Beretta M82, aren't included here, as it is a crew-served weapon manipulated by two operators.
1.3. Pistols have a special designation system in this armory.
           (Semi-automatic, Full-auto, and Revolver)
1.4. Shotguns also have a special designation system here.
(Pump-action and Semi-automatic. Also included are Sawed-offs and Double barrelled)
2. List only small arms here. DO NOT list light weapons/crew-served weapons (e.g. Launchers, GPMG's and HMG's, and Anti-Materiel Rifles).
3. Separate attachments from the weapons. List them under an Attachments section, and put them in their appropriate             designations.
(e.g. Red Dots in the Optics designation, Laser sights and Grenade Launchers in the Under-Barrel designation, etc.) You get it.
4. There is no need to include which variant of the original weapon you are using. You also don't need to include the brand.
5. If there are any personal modifications that you have made to your weapons, please list them under a P-Mod section.
(e.g. Modifying the M4 Carbine to fire both the 5.56x45mm NATO and the Russian 5.45x39mm cartridges)
6. If your weapon doesn't have a sub-designation (e.g. MP5 is just SMG), there is no need to include sub-designation.

Well, I'll swing right past Jethro+Monty since nothing they use weapons wise tends to be SWA-supplied, and tends to fall broadly into one of two categories: "daily carry unlikely to be lost", and "picked up along the way with the expectation of losing" (and Monty would like to note that, since they're not footing the bill directly, the SWA should get its nose out of her business). For the record though they carry a SIG P230 and Walther PPK respectively, both blued, both in 7.65mm Browning, and both with more than a few miles on the clock.

Fortunately both my other handlers, Danilo and Florentino, will happily have the SWA pay for as much as possible so, moving right on...

*Danilo believes in standardisation, so carries the same things as his cyborg has been issued. Since she is one of the larger, more heavy-set girls (and he is one of the squatter handlers), differences in physical size etc are less of an issue.

Anyway, those are the basics. For the record, there is another thread Behind the Choices, set up to let you elaborate a bit more on why you made (and why your characters made) the decisions to assign the weapons you did... whether those be technical reasons, character-building reasons, or something in between.

Interesting. Judging by your weapon choices, it seems you are more oriented in the support role. May I suggest the MG 3, a carbon copy of the MG42?

I get a military-like from the Olivetti-Raych fratello. I'm guessing they fall under the standard assault team?

With the Vitale-Odile fratello, I get this stealth-mission feeling. I wonder how they tend to fare with botched missions...

I laughed so hard when I read about Danilo and Florentino... If San had those kinds of customers back in the days, he would've just sold them some shoddy AK's and FAL's, cause they seem to not care about weapon handling at all...

The Rheinmetall MG 3 is a very interesting firearm.

I would mount it on the field tripod "Feldlafette" and use the attachment "Zielfernrohr 4×24 periscope-style telescope, for a stationary, heavy-machine gun role.

Yeah, the Olivetti fratello are straight door-kickers, back story being that they were supposed to fill some of the tanking capability gap left by the ailing Gen01 cyborgs. Danilo is happy with them in that role: he likes defined boundaries and knowing what is expected of him, and can get a bit annoyed if asked to do anything outside of what he sees as their remit. He's getting better by the end of their story, though remains fairly inflexible.

C. Raych meanwhile has accepted her lot in life, but still dreams of doing something a bit more exciting (even if she's not particularly well cut for it).

The Vitale fratello are indeed geared toward stealth and espionage. Florentino was poached out of AISE (and wow does he refuse to let anyone forget it), and they were supposed to help supplement, and give the SWA a more manageable version of, the Blackers. Unfortunately, looking for a more manageable version of Jethro+Monty is to miss what makes them so effective in the first place. As to how they deal with botched missions: probably surprisingly well actually. While Odile is, frankly, a pretty ratshit spy, she is quite a good cyborg, so she's a good fighter. Additionally, while the Blackers tend to carry minimal equipment and take a "make do" attitude, the Vitale fratello travel more heavily, with more specialist gear to get them out of a scrape (discussed a little here) and, for their role, are much more heavily armed. Had I bothered to progress their story, I suspect the SWA would have eventually figured out Florentino was much better deployed as part of a team, with the likes of Danilo and Raych, or one of the Gen01 fratelli ready to swing in and kill everything if need be. Razz

Heh, he might have managed it with Florentino. Danilo would probably be a harder sell though as, he does actually care about weapon handling, a lot. Perhaps more to the point though he also comes firmly from the newer = better school of thought and, given the choice, wouldn't be caught dead within ten metres of an AK or FAL. Razz
