Kanda Midori (see one of my previous posts to see her as Saeko Busujima of Highschool of the Dead) has come out with a couple more excellent cosplays:

Kirino of OreImo:

The rest of the photo set. The usual warnings about Sankaku Complex apply to all links on this page.

And Kirino's "casual" outfit:

Something for the Fate/Stay Night fans on this board: Rin Tohsaka:

There's a few more good shoots with Midori Kanda over at the Japanese blog those photos originate from:
http://kimokamehirosyu.blog93.fc2.com/
She also has her own tag on MPZero's blog - admittedly, these ones are more heavily Photoshopped:
http://mpzerocos.exblog.jp/i106/

Midori is frequently paired with an ultra-cute cosplayer known as Suu:
http://kimokamehirosyu.blog93.fc2.com/blog-entry-49.html
http://ophanium.blogspot.com/2009/10/cosplay-midori-kanda-ft-sue-ga-rei-zero_28.html

(The photos in the second link actually originate from a cosplay blog called de die in diem, but something has rendered many posts on that blog inaccessible so I have to link a repost instead.)

Ibara [イバラ] is still my favorite cosplayer, but Midori Kanda is very good.

Suu has been doing some normal clothes shots recently and she looks really cute. I have to say, though, that I think Tomoyo is cuter.

Hojo Kana as Rena Ryuguu of Higurashi. The whole photoshoot consist of a Kana stripping off her Rena outfit, revealing a bikini.

As for the quality of the cosplay, she could dye her hair the same orange-light brown color as in the anime. I would also approve of the addition of Rena's machete and a yandere-ish smile.

Still, given the chance I would still, dare I say, take her home!

Still one of the best OP's in anime history.

Hell, the entire soundtrack is classic in the true sense of the word. Awesome for a 300km drive.

AnimeNext is a little over a week away, so naturally I'm thinking about the future for next year's cosplay! XD

I'm trying to decided who I should do from this list I made so far of possibilities. I think I'm leaning towards doing a girl cosplay next year.

Misuzu from Air
Sanya fro Strike Witches
Yui from K-on
Saeko for Highschool of the Dead
Triela :3

I'm tempted to say 'Sanya', just so we'll get to see how you pull off the Striker units, the antennae and the rocket launcher. Although I think the Witch you most resemble is Gertrud.

You're gonna get your wish, Kisk! Misuzu it is!! ^___^ I showed my mom the figure I just got of her with all the dinosaurs and she said I was cosplaying as her, no ifs, ands, or buts. I didn't even say I was considering her, she just decided for me! XDDD

I'm really excited because I found the plush dinosaur that Misuzu has that is almost imposable to find, but I found it on ONE website! I need to order it soon, or else I'll be a dinosaurless (or not an accurate one) Misuzu! D:

Gao! I'm trying to save money for the con! What to do? ;_;

Edit:

I broke down and ordered it. I hope my mom doesn't get mad at me for not telling her first... but it's a dinosaur, she never discourages me from getting them... I hope she doesn't start now... *scared*

Edit:

Ahaha! Nether she nor I could sleep, so I figured in her tired state to tell her. XD She seemed upset at first, but once I showed her a picture of the dino she melted. :3

I feel kinda pathetic, I'm 19 and I still have to ask my mom if it's ok to buy something... -_-

An excellent Madoka and Mami cosplay from Anime Expo 2011 has turned up online:

Speaking of mahou shoujo, the same site has yielded this Nanoha and Fate cosplay:

Can't help but get the feeling it was based off this Kanda Midori cosplay Sorry, but Sankaku's image search won't hotlink

Also, Hatsune Miku and a Toyota Corolla:

Re: Cosplay

Post by Entropy on Sun 31 Jul 2011 - 20:40

As I mentioned in the Otakon 2011 thread, I unfortunately wasn't able to take many pictures at this year's event. Here are the ones I had, though:

This was the only Mami I saw, despite almost universal love for Madoka. My favorite part is the gun prop, which appears home-made:

There were a few Madokas floating around (including one with an elaborate "final episode" dress), two Kyoukos, I only saw one Homura (though I'm almost certain it was crossplay), and no Sayakas (that I saw). It seems Sailor Moon is still by far the queen of cosplays when it comes to magical girls.

This is China from Hetalia, complete with panda. There were many many Hetalia crossplays, I don't think I even saw one male cosplay as a Hetalia character, though I did see some attempts at the female characters from it. There were quite few Chinas, and one Japan I really wish I could have gotten a picture of.

The most prevalent costume I saw I believe would be Hatsune Miku. I don't think I've ever seen a fandom grow so exponentially quickly. There were also many Stockings (from Panty and Stocking), there were a few Panties with them (this is starting to sound weird).

I don't think I'll ever go to another convention let alone cosplay but I still want to make a vault 101 jumpsuit and pipboy 3000. I found this site that had instructions on how to do it with foam. I know you guys are much more experienced at this stuff than me. Can you ladies and gents take a look at this site and tell me if you think it's do-able? I'd like to mention two things: I am blond and I've never worked with foam before.

Time to revive this ancient topic! Very Happy

AnimeNext is happening in 4 days!!!! I didn't get to go last year, as I spent all my money meeting Norman Reedus, (SO WORTH IT) so I'm reallllly looking forward to continuing this tradition. ^_^

I decided to not spend any money on my cosplay this year, so I'll be going as Ellis once again!! I don't mind, as I really do love him. <3 My friend, Deanna is going to be my Nick this year. Two of my friends from college are also going. It's going to be a blast! ^____^

What cons are you guys going to this summer? Are any of you cosplaying? :3

I went to AnimeNext. The venue is getting a bit too small. The staff is getting more frustrated and a lot ruder now dealing with the size it seems. I did have fun this year but dealer room closing on Saturday at 6PM was pretty stupid.

I did not cosplay since it wasn't completed. I'm registered for NYCC and I'm going to see when the dates for AnimeExpo are, if I'm going to a new convention it's going to be the big one.

Awww you should have told me, we could have met up and chilled for a bit. D: Ugh I know, I barley got into any of the panels. (I only went to two on Sunday) Thankfully I didn't have much interaction with the staff, as I was in the dealers room, artist ally and outside a lot. I heard a lot of them were rude though. :/ It looks like it's time for AN to move again, or put a cap on the tickets. It seems there were a ton of at the door tickets sold. At Comic Con the tickets sell out, so there's no overcrowding.

That being said I had a blast!! I love the atmosphere and the cosplays. Getting recognized and hugged is fun too! ^_^ I love the in passing "Hey Ellis!!" remarks. XD

I can't wait till next year when we're going to have a whole genderbent L4D2 team!!! I'm going to be Ellis (obviously), my friend Deanna will be Nick, my friend Liz will be Coach, and my friend Johnny will be Rochelle. XDDD I can't waaait!!! ^o^

Hi guys!
Did'nt know where to post, so I'm doing it here.
My friend said that I look like Henrietta and I should definetly cosplay her. I'm not really sure about it - can you help me?
Here are my photos. My hair on them are little bit wet, but I think thats OK.

You could certainly pass for a cyborg and I do think you would make a convincing Henrietta.

Since you live in Northern Russia, you must have a jacket and boots, so all you need is a violin case and some gelatto and you're good to go! Smile

It's a little absurd how suitable you would be for a Henrietta cosplay, Valera. That shirt you're wearing in the photos is actually not that unlike her clothes in the manga. Just get a matching skirt and jacket, plus a bow and hairband, and you'd be set.

Sailor's outfit would be good. The dress in fantasma (or however its spelled sweat). That may be useful for anothe cosplay or something. Just a thought....

Add the what she said in her introduction thread today... Oi!

Valera you aren't actually Henrietta hiding out in Siberia after faking you and Jose's deaths did you? Hmm? Razz

Still good cosplay!

I reckon you could swing it, particularly if you hair is indeed a bit wet in those pics.

Plus, by the sounds of your winter temperatures, if you did as Kisk said and take the gelato, you could use it as a prop all day without it ever melting.  Razz

Felt that this would go well here...

Side note: A few friends and myself are working on plans to get a vacuum former working so we can shell out some Star Wars/Sci-Fi armor. Needless to say, I'm excited at the prospects...

Oh, my lab made one out of a toaster oven and a shopvac. It's apparently not that difficult, but you might want to get a heat gun and a laser-thermometer so you can make sure you have consistent temperature across your plastic. It's not even that dangerous!

...Well, rather it's a bit fucking a lot dangerous, but only if you're a city boy with no mechanical/tinkering skills. I imagine that you and your friends are slightly more adept at handling yourselves.

Damn, I want that Chun figure now. I gotta see if I can find my Levi cosplay photo around, to be honest I felt a little embarrassed this time around doing the cosplay.

I think the eyeliner and how damn hot vinyl gets got to me.

While this is a picture of her in normal clothes, I think Mikan Amaguri [甘栗みかん] makes an awesome Claes:
