As far as I can remember, no OC has used one. Maybe I'll have mine do so.

Not that I remember, and none of mine would use one.

I heard the weapon has some...'trouble' in field. Its accuracy is something to be considered with..

...sad, it is a cool weapon though!

it's still a far cry more reliable than our current standard-issue weaponry:
Wikipedia wrote:In July 2007, the US Army announced a limited competition between the M4 Carbine, FN SCAR, HK416, and the previously-shelved HK XM8. Ten examples of each of the four competitors were involved. Each weapon fired 6,000 rounds in an "extreme dust environment." The purpose of the shootoff was for assessing future needs, not to select a replacement for the M4.[3]

During the test, the SCAR suffered 226 stoppages ranking second to the XM8 with 127 stoppages and 11 major ones, but less compared to the M4 with 882 stoppages and the HK 416 with 233. This test was identical to two previous systems assessments that were conducted using the M4 Carbine and M16 rifle at Aberdeen in 2006 and the summer of 2007 before the third limited competition in the fall of 2007. Results from the second test resulted in a total of 307 stoppages for the M4 after lubrication was increased, but did not explain why the M4 suffered 882 stoppages with that same level of lubrication in the third test.

Heh, FN SCAR. Even the name sounds badass.

FYI, with regards to my fic (which is in the near future), the HK produced XM8 lost to the SCAR in the trials. Hence why Montague is tinkering with her gun in the basement for a rematch.

Looks like I was wrong about that that though, with the XM8 having less stoppages and all.

looks to me like the XM8 is more prone to major stoppages, though. I'd rather have the M4, so I can just perform SPORTS and move on, rather than switch to a backup (AKA combat knife, damn army and their refusal to issue sidearms to everyone..) and field strip the damned thing later.

the picatinny rails look about the same length... and the various barrel lengths pretty much go from Close-Quarters to Sniper. Pure awesome. I want a SCAR-H at work...

But you just said that you dislike SCAR-H in Panzer's thread in this section?!

huh? no I didn't... Panzer's thread was about a couple German machine guns and differences in types of ammo... and in this thread I said I dislike the XM8... and the M4, but not to the same degree...
I'm confused now.

Not by much; I think the lack of any accesoires on the images just makes them look less bulky. I doubt there is a significant difference in the length of the barrels or furniture (except perhaps the barrel of the CQC versions). The most noticable difference, which does make them much longer overall is the new muzzle flashes.

Oh Lord, please don't make this weapon into something like the M16 with lots and LOTS and LOTS of variants...

...just one to three version is enough--don't need another 'carbine' version or 'submachine gun' version or 'swat' version or 'anti armor' version or whatever...

Are you kidding me?! All those flavors of M-16 are what made it so versatile/fun. You only need one lower receiver to get by, an entirely different weapon was only one upper receiver away!

Yeah some weird upper recievers exist for the AR15 family:

That is awesome! OMG I'm dying of laughter. That's just the silliest thing I have seen all day. That looks like a lot of weight to put on the magazine catch though. Oh man I can't get over how zany that is...

Who on earth thought of this!

An M16 support weapon? Well, that's something that should be added to the M16 variants...

...how many more are we missing?

Ridiculous belt-fed M16 is ridiculous.

lol. talk about a quick-melting barrel...

and the FN SCAR being as modular as the AR-15 would be awesome.

I checked the companies page man, that belt feed M-16 even has a fast swap barrel. The barrel is probably thicker too. It even still accepts magazines thought the well. It is a truly crazy idea. Yet the more I think about it, there is a part of my brain that understands.

Well, I've seen the M16 which comes with a drum magazine...

...or the 'Patriot', the one that Solid Snake uses in MGS3. That's another variant of the M16, right?

I was under the impression that the 'patriot' was just an M16A3 with a hundred-round drum mag in it. You could use one of those mags in any AR-15 variant.
