Triela

Post by emperor on Wed 23 Apr 2008 - 3:06

A former victim of a Mafia child smuggling group based in Amsterdam, Triela was one among many who regularly suffered abuse in the form of drugs, torture, rape and mutilation which was taped as a snuff film.[3][4]. She was rescued by a pair of Europol detectives, one of whom was her future handler, Hilshire. After being mortally wounded in a gunfight, Hilshire's partner bravely used the last of her strength to perform CPR on Triela, enabling Hilshire to save the child's life.

Extremely pragmatic with just a hint of rebellion, Triela has a sarcastic wit and prefers to wear masculine clothing[5]. She serves as a sort of mentor to the other girls of the SWA and, of them all, she retains the most realistic outlook on their situation. She is given a minimal of conditioning, like Henrietta, and is collecting a great variety of teddy bears. Triela's preferred weapons are the SIG-Sauer P230 SL pistol (after later losing her P230 to Pinocchio in volume three, she is given the newer version 232-SL as a replacement), the M1897 Trench Shotgun with the bayonet attachment which was only seen in volume 1-2, the H&K G3A3 battle rifle (only seen in the anime), and the H&K P7M8 pistol.

In the manga, she also uses the H&K UMP submachine gun and a H&K MP7 PDW. Triela takes an intense pride in her mastery of Martial arts, and therefore develops a fierce resentment towards Pinocchio when defeated by him in this manner during their first duel. In Volumes 8-9, one year since killing Pino, with the death of Angelica she thinks that she should be the most depressed of the group, but feels no emotions. She later learns of her past connections to Mario Bossi and Hilshire from the two. The only piece of information Hilshire could acquire of her past beyond their first meeting was that she originally came from the North African country of Tunisia.

yeah, put me in favor of the season one look, as well. I didn't see the pictures when I made my earlier post. I think a cream coat could work, but not with the orange tie and blue vest. It'd have to be an all white/cream look (or a black and white look).
So yeah. Grey coat and slacks, white button-up. As stated before, it makes her look like what she is: a professional killer.

I like cream better because it seems "european" to me. Here in the states formal clothes are normally dark and you only wear them for formal occasions (work, wedding...etc.) From what I hear, Europeans on the whole wear more formal/stylish clothes on a regular basis.

That said, if you had lots of formal clothes and live in a warm climate, I'd probably have more light colored formals than dark. Makes sense. Either way, grey is just horribly boring despite probably being better for assassinations.

I've always been a fan of more color/vibrance. I hate how real=brown/black/grey.

ya got us there. Europe's MTV generation seems to favor clothing that, in the states, would be considered "just plain gay ".
that being said... Triela is the right age, but she could hardly be considered 'part of' the MTV generation. she's entirely too cloistered to have picked up many of their tastes and mannerisms.
Rusty wrote:From what I hear, Europeans on the whole wear more formal/stylish clothes on a regular basis.
'tis true... they tend to forgo the practical in favor of fashion over there. probably a holdover from the old nobility, courts and such. America started as a frontier, so our culture is more a holdover from that... with frequent and notable exceptions; generally with European names and high prices attached.
Rusty wrote:I've always been a fan of more color/vibrance. I hate how real=brown/black/grey.
I've always been the opposite. I like nature, so I like earth-tones. The exceptions being orange and yellow... I guess it's just my love of citrus showing through.

Henriettas the only one whos normal clothes would blend in wherever she went as no one pays to much attention to 12 year olds in school uniforms,they're everywhere in Europe !
except of course during school holidays where it would stand out like a sore thumb !
Trielas outfit would attract attention, as a teenage girl in a boys suit is definitely unusual!

I think that's Hillshire's intent. Dressing up like a dude would prevent boys from chasing afther his bueatiful girl. Unfortunatly, Triela's too much of a hottie for a stuffy men's suit to stop boys from chasing after her.

I definitely think she looks better in a dark coat, (and dark clothes in general) but I have no problem with her in a mini skirt. I think she looked pretty cool in vol.10, especially with her boots. She looks totally awesome on the cover.

I thought it was because Hillshire had no idea how a girl should dress so he picked something similar to his own outfit. It seems really hard to imagine him picking girly clothes for Triela. I bet it was Triela who picked the mini skirt and not him. Laughing

As for coat, I like Triela with the dark coat over the cream colored one.

I did some touch-up to the picture Sakura posted. BTW thanks for posting a "no text" version. Removing text from Triela/Hilshire wouldn't have been impossible, but would have been a major PAIN... sweat

It's not drastically different, and I didn't even bother messing with Hilshire but I at least cleaned up Triela (white specks on clothes/boots, bits of the gun and that black dot on her leg). Oh yeah, I cleaned up the hat too. Razz

Well older guns aren't bad per se, it's just new ones tend to be better. Yes Triela is plenty effective with her current training, and weapon. There are some things to consider though. With a semi-auto shotgun she could actually fire quickly even if one arm where badly injured. A tube magazine offers some advantages over detachable box. One of them however isn't speed. With something like the SPAS-15 Triela could, without a doubt, reload more quickly. While with something like the USAS-12 she could go a full 30 rounds of awesome. What's more is a lot of modern combat shotguns have folding, or adjustable stocks. This makes the gun both he gun easier to conceal, and easier to handle in CQB.

So like I said it isn't so much older guns are bad, as newer ones are better...

Not to mention it's like a personal keepsake to Triela as one of the first weapons she got from Hillshire.

Found this video a little while back - Tribute to Triela

Very Happy

The Eagle

He clasps the crag with crooked hands;
Close to the sun in lonely lands,
Ring'd with the azure world, he stands.

The wrinkled sea beneath him crawls;
He watches from his mountain walls,
And like a thunderbolt he falls.

I agree with you, it is one of the few that I've bothered to download (considering my average download speed of 56kbps, that's saying something Wink)

This is probably never officially stated anywhere, but does anyone have any idea what Triela's height is? It would be useful to know for a fanfic I'm writing.

Well I haven't seen anything like that but maybe judging her hight from Hillshire (he IS a big German guy) and the other girls I would say she's around 5'5 or so.

Five-five is awfully tall for a thirteen-year-old. But then again, almost everyone's awfully tall to me...

You know, we had a GsG Season II post with had a height chart of the cyborgs with it. Hillshire was just under 6ft (less than 2M). If I remember correctly, Triela was placed at about 1.4M (about 5ft).

Well, even if it isn't, it does look kind of potentially useful.

Where did you get it? And is it bigger in the original form?

www.gunslingergirl.com... just before il teatrino started airing. And yeah, I think the original was bigger... but that's the one I had saved.

Wow she's short... Though considering that she's a cyborg, that's hardly surprising, is it?

Depends how old she was when she became a cyborg. If she was say, thirteen, she wouldn't really be that short, though I guess it depends who you're comparing her to (I believe Nacht's info on the subject indicated the average height for a thirteen year old Italian girl is about 5'1 1/2.

Can anyone read what the height charts at the sides of the images say and get an approximate gauge on how tall each character is (yes, I know I asked about Triela, but I'm curious about the others as well). Sorry, but they're a bit small for me to make out even with glasses.

The numbers on the sides measure the height of the characters by centimeters in value of 10. Here's what I was able to get off measurements I observed from characters, though they're rounded thanks to how tough it was to measure things on my monitor:

Henrietta = 138-140 cm ('4'6" to '4'7")
Rico = 148-150 cm ('4'10"-'5')
Angelica = 145 cm ('4'9")
Claes = 155-157 cm ('5'1"-'5'2")
Triela = 160-162 cm ('5'3"-'5'4")
Giuseppe = 178-180 cm ('5'10"-'6')
Jean = 183-185 cm ('6'-'6'1")
Marco = 185-187 cm ('6'1-'6'2")
Hilshire = 173-175 cm ('5'8"-'5'9")
Enrico = 188-190 cm ('6'2"-'6'3")
Enrica = 173-175 cm ('5'8"-'5'9")
Pinocchio = 170-172 cm ('5'7"-'5'8")

There's NO WAY Hillshire is that short. @_@ I have to watch the first season. (Part where Jose and Hillshire are walking down the hall in episode 3) You can't trust Il Teatrino stuff. They're guns change size every 3 seconds!
