Dont take my words too literally, Mikhailn.

And to answer your questions- as I did for Heinlein almost 30 years ago (both his wife and sister taught at my old high school, so he often dropped by... he was such a snob, I hated him as a person for it!), it would depend on who the lesser amount of people were. if it were the average Joe on the street, I would say not. If it were to a group of highly educated and sophisicated medical staff or influencential scientific minds that could later the course of history- then I would say yes.

But mind you, the military and police of many nations do put up large sums of personnel and equipment on the line for every tiny hostage situation that happens... Every nation, except Germany. In Germany, if some looney group bent on the hinge of hostage taking makes its move, the German law enforcement will only take names of the hostages and send police to their family homes and give an appology- and then sent a termination squad to kill everyone- hostage and hostage taker. Because of this, Germany has not had a highly organized hostage taking situation in decades. ('72 Munic Olympics would not count, and even then- everyone was killed in the end. They had to do what they can in the spotlight of the world, and then do the deed in the cover of darkness.)

Me, personally, it would depend on who it is, what is happening, what are the odds, and who's watching me as I do my work. I work best in secret and when alone. My motto is, "If I'm damned for doing and damed for not doing, then I might well be damned for doing. Being damed for something I did not do is the stupidest reason to be damned for..."

Here I am in an undisguised attempt to revive Claes-chan's topic and get her to exceed Bice's 9 page thread (Fer Gloreh!).

Anyway, I'm in the process of writing a oneshot. A newly employed brilliant young professor, Stephanie Fan, proves all previously held theory of cyborg mechanics wrong by giving Claes the body of a woman in her mid-twenties. Booyah!

And so here is the question:

One the scale of 1-10, just how hot is Adult Claes, given that 'Sandro's porn mags gave Claes her proportions?

I will also need a beta soon. Any takers?

Well I thought "16-year old Claes" looked pretty damn fine when she and Petra went on the sailing ship in Lake Maggiore in Chapter 34 and that was just Claes with some make-up and some gel in her hair.

That being said, the idea of Claes with a "porn star body" with breasts and hips in the 90-100cm range... NO

Ooookay... I'll drop the porn star body then and just turn her into an adult.

90-100 cm range... is it really like that? I didn't think it was THAT bad.

Personally, the mid-to-high-80's works for me on a woman around 20 with a height of 165cm+.

I'm just not a "watermelon man"... Wink

BTW, would I be safe in assuming you have an adult, male OC waiting in the wings for her?

Adult Claes is not that much of a reach. In my fanfict Solution's Resolution, I had her paired up with Ferro as her handler, and when she underwent her rebuild to age her approprieately, she became looking like Ferro, though slightly shorter and smaller than Ferro (though no messurements are given yet) with Claes' long hair and an adult face. Claes has at least 1 more adjustment before she can be considered as 'grown up' as Claes was in her late teens (19ish) at the time of the rebuild. Final adjustment may have her as tall or a bit taller than Ferro, with a similar build. For Ferro as Claes' handler, getting her to dress like her, would be easy- open up the closet and dump those old things that don't fit anymore! Shopping would be easy too, as long as Priscilla don't take her to those frilly lingerie places!

At least Claes did not end up looking like Ferro's sister- Denise.

Actually no. The guy who suddenly gets a crush on the new glasses wearing assistant to the mad scientist as a very nice man named Hillshire.

Triela is going to freak. Her roomate and her handler? Wrong on SO many levels *laughs evilly*.

@ Elfen

I was actually experimenting on how 'Adult Claes' would function under less serious circumstances in a 'normal universe', since in Echoes she's the 'paper thin disguise' mole in the Syndicate. From what I understand, this Adult Claes is much 'older' than yours Elfen to be able to better invoke the rule of funny. Still, I did want Adult Claes to be her own girl rather than a partnered with someone.

Yes I DO like adult claes.

Thar be the problem friend. I'm good at coming up with idea. It's execution where I often fall flat on my face. As someone once told me, As an idea machine I'm great. As a writer, not so much.

But the good news is once 'BIG' is finished mad scientist Stephanie Fan will be officially a member of the SWA leaving open the possibility of Gadget Girl Claes (who once again wakes up completely unaware her body now packs 1001 useful devices) one day.

Imagine this:

----------

"Well... time to get to work. Lets see..."

Go, Go, Gadget Sunhat!
Go, Go, Gadget Fertilizer Cannon!
Go, Go, Gadget Seed Planter!
Go, Go, Gadget Shovel!
Go, Go, Gadget Watering Can!"

"..."

"...Wow, maybe this Gadget thing isn't so bad after all."

----------

Heh, one day maybe I'll get around to it.

Ok, since weve started to learn a good bit more about the girls and their handlers in recent chapters and episodes, I thought it might not be a bad time to revise their sections in the wiki. I also took the liberty of trimming them a bit, since in many cases they were more plot summaries than character summaries. Let me know what you think, please.

Born Fleda Claes Johansson and the daughter of a professor who enriched in her a love for books at an early age.[6] It is unknown how she arrived at the Social Welfare Agency. In the beginning, Claes is confined to the Agency, unable to participate in missions with the other girls because her handler, Raballo, has died. She is used as a test subject by the cyborg engineers, who utilize controlled situations and equipment to monitor the usefulness of her implants[7]. Claes wears glasses from her life before her cybernetic operation as a visual reminder of the promise she once made to Raballo and is knowledgeable and mature for her age[8]. Re-conditioned to remove memory of Raballo, her life subconsciously reflects his influence through things like her painting of fishing, accessing the books in Raballos former dorm room and her enjoyment of gardening. Before he left, Raballo told Claes to be kind when she wears her glasses, but over time shes come to believe that she can never use violence when wearing glasses which causes complications when she and Petra are sent to capture some suspected weapons smugglers. While part of a fratello with Raballo, Claes employed the H&K VP70M and the MP5K PDW.

Sorry guys but I'm going to reopen the glasses issue here. I read the fanfic quoted earlier and liked it but I have to disagree. You have to keep in mind that she has no memory of such a promise. It's right to say it isn't a "switch she can turn on and off" because she isn't even aware of it, but her brain still associates the glasses with that vow of non-violence on the cellular level. I will agree however that she is just taking her glasses off to protect them and it is simply a fortunate coincidence that this obvious act is what lifts her restriction.

Take a look at her life with Raballo: she said herself that they never spoke of the trips to the lake while at work and had a different relationship while they were there. Her time with Raballo already taught her to segment her life in this fashion. This way, despite her violent work, she could always protect and return to a gentler side of herself. Besides, it just doesn't seem like somthing a man like Raballo would have her promise. She is still a combat cyborg and a permanent promise of peace would be a death sentence for her. It was just happy fortune that after his death someone had the idea to make her a test subject (a little Raballo influence before the end perhaps?) rather than issue her a new handler and she never had to address the issue in combat.

It isn't an insult to have the glasses be a key. It's pretty natural I think. And it doesn't detract from the strength of the vow either. In the operation with Petra she seemed deeply conflicted and even confused by her reluctance to fight. For something you can't even remember to deny the reality that you have to defend yourself...that is powerful.

Firstly welcome to the forum, theprodigalson, I hope that you enjoy your time here.

Secondly, I do agree with you that the glasses are very key to Claes's personality. I actually never thought of the link you draw to her fishing trips with Raballo showing her ability compartmentalising her personality before; that's a very elegant association and certainly shows her consistency of self.

I wouldn't say that the very act of removing glasses transforms Claes into a slavering murdering psychopath for whom the red mist descends until anything within arm's reach has been smashed to woodpulp - otherwise she'd be throttling Triela every time she got undressed for bed! What I'd say that it does do is complete a circuit, so to speak, removing a mental block which lets the inclination to violence flow out, making fighting to achieve an objective seem a natural assumption. When she finds Petrushka wearing her glasses in ablutions she doesn't just ask for them back and does fight the older girl - but Claes doesn't batter Petrushka black and blue, either. Once Petrushka is down, Claes only takes the glasses back. She wanted her glasses back, she fought to re-acquire them, objective achieved.

Sweden is a member of the European Union and a signatory of the Schengen Agreement so Claes can travel around the EU/Schengen Area with just basic identification.

It's why Michele had Kara maintain her dual French and Japanese citizenship (at least until she's 20, at which time Japan requires her to fish or cut bait) because she can use her French identity card and passport to travel the Schengen Area freely.

I'm guessing that aquisition of fake documents is the least of the SWA's worries. Do cyborgs complain about bad passport photos?

For the record, I'd guessed Claes was a Dane.

Kara made Michele take over a dozen before she found one she was satisfied with for her Driver's License. Wink

Its going to have to be fake papers that can be traced to a source...
For example, I forget which volume it was, but when Hillshire was stopped at the Entrance gate of the Train (or plane), he had to show some ID to allow him and Triela in (and not have questions brought up about their weapons). Good thing the guards at the gate scratched their heads and let them in. If one of them had the balls to say "Let me check this with my supervisor", he would have been in the least delayed, if not put into one of them quiet rooms for a long while, while their credentials are being checked... That is the LAST THING any SWA Agent wants to happen to them.

Hilshire does carry an actual police ID (per Chapter 14). And in Chapter 17, Jean passed himself off as a member of SSMI (which is part of the Ministry of the Interior - you would think they would be SISDE under the Ministry of Defense since the Agency answers to them).

Since the SWA is a government agency, in my OC universe they created a real and valid Italian driver's license, passport and identity card for Kara.

Michele: Also, even though it does work, the cyborgs have very long memories...and even longer grudges.

Sounds like episode 4 of the anime. Hillshire has to produce his ID at the airport, but the security official quickly says "I apologize for the inconvenience, Sir..."

Based on that at least, the documentation seem pretty tight.

Everyone in this thread seems to be talking about the SWA as if they're some criminal organization, requiring fake papers and such. My guess is they don't use fake papers at all, but carry legit government-issue passes that grant full clearance ANYWHERE, no questions asked.

Same here.

Carabinieri: Apologies, sir; I didn't realize you were with the government.

Hillshire: Not a problem, it happens all the time.

Carabinieri: By the way, with branch did you say you were with?

Hillshire and Triela: That's classified.

Then again, that could be said for any government agency. The SWA is just SISDE's method of playing dirty. C'mon everybody say it with me;

PLAUSIBLE DENIABILITY
