What about brass knuckle stun?

Will they lose conscious?

Re: What about brass knuckle stun?
depends on where in the face, I imagine. If Pino knocked Triela out with a bare-fisted uppercut to the jaw, I'd think a good solid hit from a taser/hard plastic knuckle-gadget should do the trick, so long as it's a solid shot to the jaw, nose, temple or other condensed nerve bundle.emperor wrote:

Re: What about brass knuckle stun?
Speaking of using electricity, a long while back I read about the concept for a bullet that will zap whoever it hits. It was developed because even a fatally wounded foe can still get off a few shots before dying. Something like could overcome the girls' natural resillience to damage. I don't know about the brass knuckles, but shocking them is one way to circumvent their resistance to physical trauma.

Re: What about brass knuckle stun?
Problem is, how much energy can we store in a bullet with our current technology? Let's face it, our chemical batteries suck when compared with sci-fi stuff. Even that little taser-knuckle gadget is probably only good for one hit, unless it's linked to a battery pack somewhere on the user's body.
Plus, the girls aren't that resilient. A hail of automatic fire from a bunch of 7.62mm assault rifles would probably take one of 'em down just fine, if she was caught in the open.

Re: What about brass knuckle stun?
Well there is still the question of just how vulnerable the girls are in general to electricity. They are at least as vulnerable as regular people. This looks like it's got maybe 1 D cell batter in it. It'll be good for more then one hit, but I wouldn't expect that many. Certainly enough to last one fight at least. But you know what fighting a cyborg assassin, especially hand to hand, I'll take any edge I can get.

Press it against the back (left or right) of the base of the skull in the back of the neck and light it up!
A face punch would do but put burn marks on it. If you want to knock the person out, you need to short out the nervous system...

Re: What about brass knuckle stun?
so, I guess a regular ol' handheld stun gun would probably be less awkward for that.

Re: What about brass knuckle stun?
Question: could one short-circuit the girls' electrical systems if right place was hit? The one I linked to earlier fires off 950,000 Volts by the way. (That's a lot right? We need an emoticon where the smiley is getting electrocuted.) But yeah, a regular stun gun would be much easier for anyone other than Pino.

Re: What about brass knuckle stun?
I was first to suggest that an EMP blast could knock out the girls' cybernetics and leave them helplessly immobile.

Re: What about brass knuckle stun?
if they have electrical systems to speak of, yes.
I'm more of the school of thought that the girls are essentially biological (synthetic parts mimicing the way human physiology works, just tougher/stronger)... so a stun gun could be applied to them the same way it could to a regular human.

Well, but canon calls them 'cyber implants'...

Re: What about brass knuckle stun?
yeah, it's all up in the air. in early canon (anime season one and up to about manga volume 5) they look like regular human bits, but some translations call 'em 'cybernetics'... later on we see armor plated legs and circuitry on a leg with no ball joint. the only person who can say what they're made of with any certainty at this point is Yu Aida himself.

Re: What about brass knuckle stun?
I featured a scene in my fanfic, where Triela is exposed to a "electronic magnet" it didn't send her flying into the magnet but it gave her a really bad migrane. know thinking about it again, is that possible? as for detail, the magnet was strong enough to disarm people, riping metalic objects from their bodys (eg. guns and knives)

Re: What about brass knuckle stun?
Here in NY City- a kid was killed by an MRI Unit a few years back while he was in it.
The MRI Unit ripped a fire extingusher unit off the wall (iron/steel alloy handle), and threw it onto MRI Chamber killing the boy who was inside it.
2 months earlier, the same MRI unit pulled a steel chair from under the tech who was sitting on it while running daigs on it. So... having a strong enough magnet to do... is this strong enough?
Years later, I would bein that same MRI Unit... damn machine gave off an errie feeling, and though they say that there would be no lasting affects, it took me 2 days to recover from having my atoms realigned.

Re: What about brass knuckle stun?
Yeah MRI's are strong. I too thought of them when West spoke of ripping watches off. Thought I've never been in one it's not hard to imagine it having a 'feel' to it. Part of the human brain is magnetic after all.
Anyway how a magnet would effect a Gunslinger girl is quite in the air. It entirely depends on the construction of the girls. The girls have to have some way of connecting their brain too their new limbs. You could either do this using wires to replace nerves, possibly with electronics to help. Or you could grow new nerves. The former is easier to build, while the later is more robust. Honestly though, we have no idea which is actually used, and their are good arguments for both.
Now if the girls have metal nerves, then there aught to be some effects of standing in such a massive magnetic field. When the cyborg in question moves, electricity would be generated in what ever wires are being moved. This electricity would travel in both directions along the wire. To the brain, and to the muscle. Depending on just how much current was generated this could cause a couple things. First it could cause the muscles to move. The brain should also be effected. How isn't entirely clear to me. It could feel like phantom touches. It might also cause some weird brain activity, which could be a lot like a headache. Then again if the current where high enough it could induce seizures. That last bit does seem a bit unlikely to me. Keep in mind though I'm no expert.
If the girls had artificially grown nerves it wouldn't be any different from a normal person. At which point I can't really speak with any authority. At most though I would expect it to max out at a strange feeling.
So it depends on their construction. I could easily believe either one.

Re: What about brass knuckle stun?
theres a 12 gauge taser shotgun shell,it has 4 prongs at the front and 4 more that pop out at right angles at the rear when fired, when it hits its target the front sticks in and the rear half falls away from the front bringing the 4 rear prongs into contact with the target,it has a double duration charge over a standard taser pistol
