Rogue Cyborg

Post by Wileama on Fri 28 Sep 2007 - 13:14

So do you think conditioning would allow for a rogue cyborg? One that just when completely ape shit and started to attack the agency. If so who do you think is the most likely?

I always liked Claes for it it. If her memory of Rabalo ever comes back, it's going to be a bad day. She'll probably just try for a round in between Jeans eyes. Though that may require 'handling' Rico first. Then again she may go after a lot more of the leadership, considering what she may or may not know.

Also do you think Claes could do it anything, but a blind fit of rage. Or could she calmly plot and plan to cut everyone's throats in their sleep.

\\suddenly imagines Claes speaking Marv's lines from sin city to Jean...

We seen it happen in Elsa.
But her condictioning was too tight as such her loyalty demanded that she off herself after offing Lauro.

Claes' loyalty has been set to a minimum since she has little to anyone expect the cyborgs, a couple of handlers and the medical staff. I believe that the medical staff is set by default.

That's a very interesting take on things, and totally contrasts with my own viewpoint - my reckoning was that Elsa shot herself because she was utterly heartbroken over Lauro's rejection, and saw no further point in living.

Good counterpoint, Natch.

Back to topic; assuming that Claes flips out, where and when could she flip out and take out as many as she can in 1 (or the least number of) shot(s)?

Claes has very much ability in leadership so I convince she could make chaos in SWA!

I'm sure Claes may go for consultancy with Triela but if Triela say NO!?! :bounce:

I would say that Claes' only shot would be if all fratello teams were in the range for practice. The problem here is she fast enough to take out 4 other cyborgs, and then their fratello? The rest of the organization can be taken down while she plays "The End" by The Doors on her iPod.

Re: Rogue Cyborg

Post by Wileama on Sat 29 Sep 2007 - 23:17

I like to think Claes is smart. Smart enough to realize no other cyborg is going to help her. Triela going on a killing spree at the agency, don't see it. Smart enough to realize she probably can't take even one cyborg. She has lost most of her combat training to the reconditioning. That and she's out numbered. She's going to understand that her only hope is to get her hits in before any form of security shows up.

A cyborg shows up, she's going to find herself pinned to the ground. Maybe even shot in the back by security in the middle of an awesome knife fight. If the SWA is as smart as I think they are, they'll have a security force that would have a good chance of killing Claes. At the very least they'll slow her down long enough for a cyborg to show.

Should a cyborg show, Claes is probably going to hope it's one of her friends. They'll have issues with fighting a friend, and will not be so inclined to kill her. Other cyborgs may not be so inclined, Claes is putting their handler in danger. As such Claes is more likely to make her move when most of her friends are around, and more of the other cyborgs are on missions.

Here is a thought though. Claes wakes up one day. Starts her day like any other, then suddenly in the middle of the day makes an attack on various administrators. Maybe she starts when Jean stops by to check on her, maybe she just starts shanking the higher ups. Lets assume though she's stopped by say, Triela, who chooses to pin her to the ground. What's the agency going to do with her. I imagine she'll be executed sooner, rather then later, but I imagine it would still be a tricky process.

Iím sure Claes would be mad, but you also have to keep in mind that sheís a total passavist. If a situation like that were to ever come up, she would really be torn between her anger at those responsible, and her promise to Rabalo. Outside of being extremely pissed off and depressed, I personaly donít think she would do anything crazy. Sheís smart enough to know it would be pointless.

And even if she did, as Wileama stated, she wouldnít pose much of a threat.

An angry person with access to fire arms is always a threat. There are varying degrees of threats, but that doesn't mean you should discount the lesser ones.

Claes would still have plenty of time, and opportunities to shoot several people. Perhaps only enough time for one, maybe two, people on an actually hit list.

Though you do make a good point homicidally rage, and cold blooded revenge aren't much her style. Then again, a good beating might not be.

gotta keep in mind her promise, and her dislike of firearms. In the anime, when she had a choice between a skorpion SMG and a poker from a fireplace, she chose the poker.

I could see a beating taking place, but that's not really her style either. I see more of a cunning psychological torturer in Claes.

I'm sorry my brain simply prefers to omit that event from existence.

Yeah that would be more her style. Suddenly imagines Claes in Hard Candy. However psychological torture tends to take time. Time Claes would likely not have.

I remember her taking the poker, but it was for use in other things- taking out the place's fuse box. Taking the SMG would have drawn more attention if she filled the fuse box full of lead. Everything else in her case, is secondary.

she also seemed rather uncomfortable with a gun (not to mention unwilling to fire it) in volume 7.

She looks much older in these shots to be Claes. Much taller too, compared to Vol 5/Chptr 26/pg 112-114. Her hair is also much shorter.
I will say, if that is her- she's grown a lot since Vol 5. The Claes in Vol. 5 is between 12 and 14, yours in Volume 7 looks much older than 14. Aren't cyborgs not supposed to grow?

Besides, she's wearing her glasses, which forces Claes to function more like a normal human rather than a killer cyborg.

we'd have to ask Mr. Aida on that one... but that's definitely Claes (and she looks about like a 14 year old girl of Italian descent to me).
here's a couple translated pages from volume 7 (I have a total of 3. can't remember who did 'em):

ElfenMagix wrote:Besides, she's wearing her glasses, which forces Claes to function more like a normal human rather than a killer cyborg.
It's not nearly that simple. Seems to me that her promise to Raballo and susequent reconditioning have left her very confused. She knows the glasses are important, and that she's not supposed to be violent without a damn good reason... and now she's just extremely... sensitive... about her glasses:

http://illiweb.com/fa/pbucket.gif

and that's the incident that led her to be sent on a mission alongside Petrushka. Here are the bits I left out:

Good intell gathering there (last time I try to dl that many images to research over a modem!)!

The cyborgs seem to grow, in looking at Angelica- it looks like she started as a child of 7 (in the anime) and by Vol 5 is about 11/12. Question is, how much time she has left?

If anything, in my fanfict, I put a 10 - 12 year span on them. To die just before adulthood (21 years of age).

none, actually. By the timeline I prefer, I put her death around... summer 2006. Though that's just a rough guess. Could be off by 5 years or so... I don't have much to go on there other than this: it happens in volume nine, at the very least a few months after Petra is fully operational... but probably more like a year or two.

I think the jury is still out as to whether the cyborgs actually grow. My view was that the cybernetic re-modification had essentially mutilated them into permanent children.

that was pretty much my view as well, though now I'm torn between thinking that they do grow, and that Mr. Aida has just changes his style back and forth.
here's what I've got to support that theory, involving Angelica (though I admit that angles, action, and clothing may be coloring my perception... I think it has more to do with what Mr. Aida had for breakfast the day he drew these.)

In Angie's case, as far as the anime is concern, she grew. She's not the tallest of the group, but having matured from a young girl to a young teen (or preteen), her body has matured. She is the oldest cyborg of the group, no one is arguing that.

Today's cybernetics, artifical bones are adjustable for a growing body to grow with.
http://www.freepatentsonline.com/5683462.html

And the math is simple:
The width from finger tip to finger tip on out streatched arms is equal to the hieght of the person. If things do not add up, adjustments have to be made.

I would dare guess one of the 3:
Lorenzo (since he is the chief)
Dr. Bianchi
or Dr. Gilliani.

But she would not want to use the f-word...
More like... another work for kill... that is short and messy.

No matter how murderous Claes could get, I doubt she'd harm Bianchi. I imagine the Doc, nice guy that he is, probably treated her kindly.

I see it now.

Cleas walks down the hall very slowly before passing Ferro and doctors Bianchi and Gilliani, her HK MP5K hidden behind her.

Bianchi: Claes?

Claes stops: Doctors?

With an expert flip of her hair, she looks to the small crowd.

Claes: I want to f--k you up, baby!

She opens fire on all of them take special care to shoot off/out any gender related organs.

...

She changes magazines and she walks on down the hall.

I've got one (staying somewhat true to the original song)...

The break room door opened quietly, and a few of its occupants looked up. Outlined in the doorway was Claes, wearing her usual outfit, a loaded MP5k gripped in her right hand. Dr. Bianchi got up and crossed the room to stand in front of her.
"Claes, giv..." he began.
"Leave," was all she said as she shoved him out the door, closing and locking it behind him.
Claes raised her weapon, training it on Dr. Gilliani.
"Father, I want to kill you."
"Now, Clae..." Dr. Gilliani was interrupted by a 3-round burst, which tore through his abdomen. He dropped to the floor with an agonized groan. Everyone stood up, Priscilla screamed and backed up to the wall.
"Mother," Claes shouted over the sudden cacophony as she trained her weapon on Ferro, "I want to fu..."
Ferro, who had closed her eyes, opened them and let out a confused, "What?"
"-ckyouuuupooohyeahcomeonbaby!" Claes screamed as she opened fire on fully automatic. It was deafening in the enclosed space. Everyone else in the room dived for cover, hands over their ears and eyes closed. Ferro dropped to the floor, riddled with holes.
By the time everyone else looked up, Claes was gone out the door. Bianchi was pressed against the opposite side of the hall, watching her calmly reload her weapon as she strode purposefully toward the chief's office. She had her iPod clipped to the front of her dress, and a single earbud in her left ear. Bianchi, psychiatrist that he was, knew what song it was playing at that moment...
"... and... she... walked on down the hall," he whispered.

huh... I think I'm gonna post this one. I like it...

that's an excellent idea.. where did Claes come up with the MP5k and ammo, where did she get the idea to use 'the End', young as she is...? Why is the good doctor so familiar with the Doors?
maybe it was Bianchi's idea all along... :suspect:

I agree, if Claes went rouge we all know by now the
SWA should kiss their asses goodbye (giving her music, what were they
thinking?). Sheís smart, cunning and knows the compound by the back of her
hand, probably better than even some of the staff in some parts. Home field advantage could possibly belong to her since she lives there twenty four seven. Even the other girls leave for missions.

But enough about four eyes... letís talk about the real danger here!

Someone who has a real reason to snap!

Someone who will be able to take the entire SWA off guard and kill them all,
handlers and cyborgs alike, before they even realized she went rogue!
Someone who would completely decimate them!

I give you the diabolical, ruthless, merciless...

Angie!

...

...

...

I fail seriously, donít I?

Okay her only chance would be to use the 'I'm so sweet and cute' card and hope she gets everybody going 'aawwwww'... then as in Nactsider's 'Bloody Valentine' whips out her gun and introduces everybody to 5.56 caliber brain surgery. Isn't that why the assassins are little girls? Ambush tatics?

That, my friend, is the crux of the SWA - no one suspects a young child of being a superhuman, bulletproof killing machine. Displaying a sound knowledge of Gunslinger Girl's fundamental principles can in no way classify you as a failure - lighten up on the self-depriciation, and hold your head up high as a valued member of our community.

And thanks for the plug. I deeply appreciate it.

I think you are WAY over estimating her. Keep in mind that since she had her memory erased, she's had no training what so ever. No firearm or CQC. Nothing. Zip. She is no more skilled then your average school girl off the street. Granted, she might do some damage, but it would be pretty pathetic compaired to what one of the other girls would do.
And this from a fellow Claes fanboy!

Don't worry Nachtsider, you'll find I poke fun at myself
alot, It's part of my sense of humour. Most of the time I tend to poke fun at
my ineptness (right there, see!) out of habit from darker days gone by (I used
to think I was the scum of the earth, now I only say I am).

I can't seem get rid of it not after almost a decade of berating myself, so I
might as well try and make it funny while I still have it. I'm confident it'll
go away sometime though... it had better, before I graduate, nobody wants to
hire a lawyer to says he's an idiot every five seconds. Will be bad for biz.
There gores my ability to support my anime obsession.

Anyway back on topic, admittedly I give Claes too much credit, but I tend to
see her as a very efficient and cunning person. As discussed earlier, she wouldnít
just flip out like Elsa and kill Lauro. No...

Premeditated murders. Lots of them.

Like Nachtsider said, ambush tactics. Claes wouldnít be stupid enough to attack
the entire compound like Rambo. She'd hit the place like Kira/Lighto-kun from
Death Note. She has a while library of suspense and triller novels to draw
ideas from (Actually, it's rather scary how many ideas get thrown around in the
movies. Thatís how I found out about using prepaid. Itís out now, but imagine if
it was a new thing?) Lots of planning and risks, moment of truth then...

Standing over Lorenzo's dead body, Claes glasses NOT on her face, smiles,
Raballo avenged.

"Just as Planned."

She could make bombs using her garden fertiliser and hide them all over the
place. God that would be a nightmare since she is the person most familiar with
the dorms.

Triela would be tending to her teddy bears, while Claes had 'excused herself'
from the room and picks one up... no more Triela. Hernietta's violin is hollow inside right? Hell, Claes knows where the
shooting range is. She could pop in there, intentionally get reprimanded then
leave. After leaving a present of course... next to where the flammable stuff is kept.

Who ever said she had to pick up an MP-5 and try to gun everyone down?

I'm getting carried away aren't I?

... who did kill Raballo anyway? I was of the opinion Section One or even
Section Two did it to silence him. If Claes ever remembered and found out, Elsa
would have nothing on her.

Sure thing, man.

Bombs from fertilizer - very V for Vendetta, one of my favorite books ever.

I always imagined that Raballo's death was, in truth, no 'hit-and-run accident', and that the triggerwoman was either Elsa or Rico. But that's another story for another day.

Re: Rogue Cyborg

I still think youíre mistaken sasahara17. Claes is a very smart girl, but itís all book smart. Going by your logic, everyone with a college degree is a master killer waiting for a reason. If you look at her performance under fire in vol.7, you can see sheís totally lost when it come to killing skills. Smart does not a calculated killer make. You also keep calling her cunning - where do you get that? As I said before, sheís smart, but cunning? I really think you are putting her into the same category as the other girls. Elsa is cunning. Triela is cunning. Not to mention that they, and all the others, are ruthless killing machines. Iím sorry, but I just donít think Claes has it in her - no matter how mad she was. Knowing her, escaping into the wild would be more her style.

I can never see Claes wigging out (I think she's to smart for that) but if she did, hereís what I think would happen:

She would wait till Triela left the room, grab her gun, and then run through the complex firing wildly at what ever moved (and very rarely hitting anything). Once everyone realized what was happening, our poor Claes (and it pains me to say this) would go down in a hail of gun fire from quite a few Agents, Handlers and their overly protective Cyborgs. Whatís more, that would probably be all right with her, knowing before she even started that thatís how it would end. (If Triela were close enough, she would probably try to end it physically, but thatís only if she happened to be in the neighborhood) Claes might score a few hits and maybe even a lucky kill, but thatís about it. The kids who go on school shooting sprees would do better then Claes would, simply due to the fact that all of Claesí targets will be fighting back.

If, however, it were Elsa or Triela, well Iíd rather not think about itÖ

Going by your logic, everyone with a college degree is smart. I assure you, this is not the case. The majority of people I've met with a higher education are just rich kids with zero practical skills and a love for bureaucracy.
...and then there are the ones who got an art degree, hung it up on their wall, forgot everything they learned in college, and went on to serve burgers at a fast food joint...
