Rock music anyone?

Post by Triela on Fri 11 Jul 2008 - 12:00

This i where you can post all kinds of rock music.

Rock is my favorite genre. I can't imagine my life without rock music. (I can remember when it was though) The dark days of boy bands who only sang, no song writing or playing instruments of their own. @_@

Favorite bands:
Linkin Park (Always and forever!!) <3 :ahh:
My Chemical Romance
Evenecance (to this day I still can't spell it) -_-;;
The Used
Senses Fail
Fall Out Boy
Panic at the Disco
Three Days Grace
Limp Bizkit
Miyavi (J-rock)

I know I don't have a wide range, but I don't find artists that I absolutely LOVE and listen to non-stop. (Really the only band I would die to be without would be Linkin Park) So what about you guys? Very Happy

I'm not a big fan of Rock, ALternative is more my thing, but there are a few rock bands that I like.
Namely:
Bon Jovi
Placebo
MCR (?)
Maroon 5
And a few random songs I got off of newgrounds...

Although I have to say, the Delgados are brilliant (classed as Alternative/Indie I believe)
Got their two latest albums, too bad they broke up :(

Re: Rock music anyone?

Evanescence and LP actually list themselves as alternative metal and nu-metal, respectively. But okay... enough nitpicking from me.

You'll be glad to know that I love both bands and their music, ladies - of Evanescence's three main albums, I consider Origin to be the best (all their pre-Fallen LPs are absolutely lovely, too), followed by Fallen, Anywhere But Home and The Open Door. The last album was a complete flop in my eyes, apart from gems like 'Call Me When You're Sober' and 'Lithium'. Ben Moody's departure I regard as a severe blow to the band that it may not recover from.

When Linkin Park exploded on the scene like a surprise sunrise way back, I was completely mesmerized by their music. Still am. Hybrid Theory is one of the best nu-metal albums ever, Reanimation put some very interesting new spins on HT's tracks and Meteora delivered some nice and unusual new touches to LP's sound. Minutes to Midnight initially surprised me with the completely new musical direction the band took, but it's growing on me.

The only complaint I have with LP and Evanescence is their extremely sparing use of guitar solos. I consider solos to be an integral part of rock and metal, being one who grew up on and idolizes Eighties examples of these genres. If they could solo more instead of just having the bass and guitars play the same chords, I'd consider them more excellent than they already are.

My Chemical Romance are simply awesome, 'nuff said. I Brought You Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love was little more than a curiosity to me when I first heard it, but Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge just blew me away, and The Black Parade was nothing short of genius. Gerard Way has one of the most powerful pairs of lungs to grace the rock business, and his bandmates are no slouches where it comes to playing their instruments. I sometimes wonder how the band could possibly top the excellence of their latest album, but sincerely feel that they can pull it off.

Don't immediately have the time to post my favorite songs from these bands and my other favorite groups. I'll do it later - wait for it!

I'm kinda all over the place with my music. Yeah I like bands link Linkin park, My Chemical Romance, Disturbed, and some others. But I really don't have a favorite band, I just like their songs. >.< I like J-rock. I really can't post favorite songs either, they tend to fall out of favor after listening to them for some time...

Yeah, in 2005. But their lead singer (Emma Pollock) has gone solo, and she's put up a few of her new songs on her website.

Not quite what I meant, I meant that I sort of like them, but I've not heard any of their new stuff so I can't really make a judgement...

just discovered a band called Apocalytica (that's actually been around for awhile) who seem to have started off doing Metallica covers utilizing four cellos and no vocals. It's actually pretty amazing stuff, I think... and when they collaborate with other bands, it's just as awesome.

a couple more-
For Whom the Bell Tolls:

and
The Unforgiven

here's a playlist from that site emperor's so fond of...
gotta love their rendition of the Zelda theme.

...
..
.
these guys shoulda done the Il Teatrino Soundtrack...

and Madhouse shoulda done the animation/storyboarding Hissy fit

Its not the instruments that count Triela-chan, its the music. actualy, I'd rather headbang with something large in my hands, then something small.

Major props to the Apocalytica. I think the best is that in the words of Tenacious D, they are classically rained to rock our fuckin' socks off! The only difference between them, and any other metal band, is that they have cellos.

Also I never really thought of much of System of a Down. That video thought, is nothing but genius. Wow....

You know what you just reminded me of LoC? Letters from War. Back in basic they would give you time off to head to what ever religious service you wanted. There where a lot of them, but by, and large most went to some Protestant church on Sunday. It was a place to go just to escape the MTI's, and the bond of Basic kept us together. Anyway they would play a video during mass, and that was one of them. By the time it was over I don't think there was a dry eye in the church. Man, those are some memories...

There's one very true thing at the start of that video... our grandfathers in World War 2 were the greatest American generation thus far. There were a whole lot of those stories that didn't end so happily as the fairy tale that was that song, though (I had two of 'em in my family. neither died, but neither made it out completely intact). So yeah... not a dry eye indeed... and I'm sad to say, our (to quote a TV series) 'generation kill' doesn't begin to compare. Myself included.
...anyhoo... I notice a lot of Screaming Eagles patches in the video... I'm not sure if I should be happy or sad that my first orders out of initial entry (to Ft. Campbell) were canceled in favor of the 1st AD in Germany...

regarding religious services in basic... after the first sunday when I stayed at the barracks (and subsequently cleaned most of it with green pads and scouring powder)... I always went to the jewish service. they had chips, soda, and a guy with a guitar.

This place has been dead for four years now, let's see if I can't breath some life into it, hmm?

In no perticular order:

- AC/DC
- Metallica (some albums say rock, others metal, so Imma put it here anyway )
- Creedence Clearwater Revival
- Linkon Park (I've only listened to a few of thier songs, but they were pretty good. Escept for thier latest album, One Thousand Suns, that sucked more arse than... well... a thing that sucks a lot of arse)
- Guns'N'Roses
- Pennywise
- Beatles
- Tenacious D
- Bon Jovi

P.S. Triela, I watched that Youtube vid "Triela´s not okay", it was so cool, I just wanna... wanna... to much awsomeness for me to handle! Seriously, it was wicked .
I'll probably check the other vids here tomorrow, I've run out of time now.

More of a Magical Mystery Tour man myself, but much love for The Beatles.

"Rock" is a pretty broad genre though... it's kinda like saying you like beer: it ranges from heavy to light, comes in everything from strong to tasteless, can have a bunch of different flavours mixed in and certain types don't suit everyone.

ditto on thee Beatles. lotz to choose from in terms of variety, that seemed in my opinion to be their strong point, constant exploring, they never really dwelt in any kind of rock or ballads long enough to specialize at it, but that's ok. Not my ultimate favs, but strong front runners in my list of rock bands.
