Anachronism

Just found about BBC's 'Life on Mars'. Damn it's good. In celebration of myself finding such a good show, I thought I'd start a thread discussing all the various ideas we could have where the GSG crew experiencing something outside of their own time frame!

I usually start off with a few of my own ideas, but since all I can think of right now is the 'coma, insane or back in time' plot (I still have my chryogenic freezing thing, but that's forwards in time), I'm not much help right now.

So just to start off; Who's your main character, what time do they end up being in, how do they 'get there' exactly and finally how do they 'get back'?

For anyone to go back in time, you could draw on Dr. Who physics/other random sci-fis and do something like the classic 'rip in space-time' or 'overpowered rift' etc.

You can acheive anything in sci-fi

Well the general idea of this thred is to discuss 'timetravel'. For sinctance, Rico somehow ending up back in the good old days of 1944 and deciding to side with the French resistance (the need someone like her), or Claes going back even further and meeting the great William S.

Don't get me started on Triela going so far back she meets Leonidas and his 300. The world would implode.

A spaticial time rip sounds pretty fun. But bringing the Doctor in might be even more fun. I don't think he'd agree with the SWA's practices though.

Mr. Hartman: [Scrambles for cover]
Leonidas: "Then we shall fight..."
Triela: [levels shotgun at Leonidas]
Leonidas: "er... not call the dark skinned girl a whore..."

What about we alter the events of the OK Coral? You throw some old west gunslingers, and some gunslinger girls. I think Rico would make an awesome Lone Ranger.

I almost feel like locking this thread now that I understand what it's about. Someone might steal my long-held idea for a GSG Western now that Wil's broached the topic...

Hell, if Chuck Norris uses his roundhouse kick technique, the entire background would collapse for more than a mile and Rico would be flung away.

I hate to be a dick about this, but they have a saying in the research community: "Publish, or Perish." There is only so long you can hold on to an idea, and still claim it as yours. I think it just a bit unfair that we can't discuss an idea, because you've been sitting on it for a while.

On a lighter note, does anyone else see Claes doing the Inquisition musical bit from Mel Brocks History of the World Part One?

One of the reasons I never wanted to become a scientist or engineer. How many stalwart researchers were beaten to the prise by thier rivals because the sucker published a mere day before?

I've never been really able to pick up on sarcasm very well. Combine that with the internet, and I can almost never tell when your being tongue in check actually.
